BQ Event Ingestion Count does not match Segmentation Charts

Hi all,I set up a BigQuery connection to ingest custom event data into our Amplitude project. I can see the ingestion is running correctly, and the event counts on the BQ Connection show the expected number of events (19k for 8/29/2023): However, when building a segmentation chart for the same event, the count for event totals is much lower: Is this a configuration issue somewhere? I would expect the event totals in my segmentation chart to match the number of ingested events by day in the BQ connection screen. TIA for any assists!

Data discrepancy between our DB and Amplitude

Hello!I’m looking to brainstorm solutions for a data discrepancy issue I have between my website’s production database and Amplitude. The discrepancy is with an event we call “Article View”. Our DB tracks an article view on the backend, and originally I setup Amplitude tracking on the frontend. The difference was quite surprising (several thousand view difference), so I decided to track this event on the server and in the same block of code where we track article views for our database. This has produced much better results, but there is still a difference in event volumes (only ~200 event total difference now). Has anyone else had a similar issue and found a fix? Is this type of problem to be expected? Would really appreciate any help, thanks!

See the cumulative % of my MAU that performed an activity over time

I’m using the segmentation chart and the % Active to see how frequently MAU are interacting with a new feature. I want to see this on a cumulative basis though, more like, what % of MAU have completed this event through X date. Not sure how to do this. If I change the chart type from Stacked area to Bar chart, I think that shows the total cumulative % that have completed it (it’s just a single bar) but I would like to see how that changes over time.

Unable to sort based on custom event attributes.

We are unable to apply filters to the custom event properties. Basically, we have an event named "checkout_init" with a custom event property called "checkout_type", which can take on values of 'old' or 'new'. Interestingly, I can observe the same event property seems to be fine in User Streams. And This issue only arises in the production environment, the same event with event properties functions correctly in the sandbox environment.

Seeding Amplitude with .csv data

Hi, is there a way to seed my Amplitude account only using csv data? Right now the setup wizard is trying to make me connect an API source, but I just want to import some event data from a csv file and then analyze it with Amplitude. I’m not even able to access the dashboard at all because the setup wizard wants an API connection. Help!Thanks!

Meaning of 'Overall % Active' in Segmentation chart.

In the description of the tooltip in part ‘Overall % Active’ of the chart, it is written as 'Aggregate metric values across the entire date range.’ But I don't understand what it means.When comparing ‘Overall % Active’ with ‘Current % Active’ or ‘Average Values’, the level of ‘Overall % Active’ Metric is much higher, so why?plz, explain it easily.

How to update user_id after an event sign-up when device_id is initially used for tracking

Hello, I have not setup Amplitude in my codebase yet but am planning to use HTTP API as it seems the easiest method with our Nextjs app. I have been testing on Postman and have a rough idea what I’d be expecting in the response. However, I’m a little bit confused with passing in user_id in event’s params. For example, I’d like to track an Onboarding event flow which consists of multiple events, button clicks and page viewing whilst the user is on each page of the sign-up process. Please clarify if this should be a funnel of the Onboarding event: A user fills in all his details on the sign up form - tracking sign up page (pageview), get user’s device_id The user hits the ‘sign up’ button after filling the form - tracking button clicked, device_id sent on payload as the user does not yet have a user_id (our current app is storing user’s external_reference as the id) The user is directed to our ‘Connect to data source’ page, if user opts to explore sandbox or gets stuck on this page - tra

How to add data labels to funnel conversion chart?

How can I add data labels to the Funnel Conversion chart once inserted into a dashboard?I am surprised (and a little disappointed) by how different the chart looks in the “create chart” view versus how it looks when inserted into a dashboard. You lose a lot of first-hand information as it is “hidden” in the tooltip in the dashboard, and the dashboard is what would be shared.

Lead to customer : How to handle user identification before sign up

Hey,There is my, pretty usual, use case :Leads fill a form, so we can contact them by email. After a will, some of them convert to user by creating an account on our platform. Right now, we use our platform generated ID as user_id in Amplitude. So at the lead step we don’t have it.I’m not sure how can I easily follow all the journey in Amplitude.I’m used to Braze and Mixpanel where you can have aliases to handle this kind of cases, once the user creates an account you just merge all his alias to it. But this system is not available in Amplitude. What’s the best way to identify ‘not yet’ users in Amplitude (but we can have a temporal unique identifier as the email) and then identify them to their final user_id ?Let me know if my explanation is not clear ;)Thanks and have a great day !Matthias
