Learn, ask questions, and help others use and build Amplitude charts to gain valuable insights! This is where you can ask and get feedback on questions such as: ✅ How can I calculate DAU/WAU?✅ How can I see the distinct count of devices for users?✅ Why is the conversion rate in my Conversion chart higher than the conversion rates in my Conversion Over Time Chart?✅ How do I calculate the bounce rate?✅ How do I look for users who did not perform an event? Hi,I want to create a dashboard on the behavior of specific groups I track with the Accounts Addon. This dashboard should be embedded/linked from another page. So what I would love to do is create a URL/link to the dashboard and add a parameter with the name of the respective group to the URL and have the dashboard filter on that. Is there a way to do this?
I'm having an issue where if I export a saved dashboard to a PDF, the PDF is showing up without data. This feature worked fine as recently as the beginning of Jan. When I download the PDF, the outline of the data cards are there, but there is no data or images inside the cards. When I export as PNG, the data shows up fine.
Funnel and event segmentation charts in Amplitude are two different analysis charts that help you visualize and understand customer behavior in your app.Funnel charts track the completion rate of a specific sequence of events. A funnel chart shows the number of users who complete each step in a defined process and the drop-off between each step. This chart type helps you identify bottlenecks in your user flow and understand where users drop off.On the other hand, event segmentation charts allow you to see how different customer segments behave within your app. You can segment your users based on criteria such as customer properties, event properties, or device type. This chart type helps you understand which customer segments are most active, their actions in your app, and how they engage with it over time.In summary, funnel charts help you track the success of specific user flows, while event segmentation charts help you understand user behavior across different segments. Amplitude allows you to power your products from Retention to Lifecycle. 👍 Rather than each chart type being used on its own, using these charts together can enable you to become a better data storyteller and dive deeper into the "why" behind your product usage data instead of just stopping at the "what" and reporting on retention rates. The key here is the Usage Interval view. Here's an example of how to do it. (It's a quicker read than it looks!)Build a Retention analysis based on a critical event that matters to you. Ideally, it's an event representing the main value proposition of your product or behavior the end user performs habitually. If the product was AmpliTunes, that might be "Purchase Song or Video." Chart example here. In this case, since we're looking for repeat behavior, we're using N-Day Retention. Once you grasp the retention rate, you'll likely question how "good" that rate is. Does daily retention make sense for your event, or is a different interval more appropriat
How to exclude all personal identifiable data from shared board and prevent downloading PI data as CSV
Hello community,we are currently using Amplitude for the reporting with one of our customers. However, they should not be able to see personal identifiable data of the users. Is there a way to share a link to the dashboard so that the people who watch the board can interact with the board, but cannot inspect the data points in the graphs i.e. are not given the option to “Show user paths”, “View users”, and “Download Users”. Is that possible? If that does not work, is it possible to somehow restrict the type of data that can be downloaded? For example, we want to avoid that, for example, the IP addresses can be viewed.Thank you in advance for the support! Kind regards
This seems to have started happening after the new recent UI changes in Amplitude. Here you can see an old report with all the custom events in the events drop down: But if I try to make a new report, none of my custom events are available:
Hi there ! I’m trying to use the funnel analysis route of the dashboard REST API (you can find the documentation here), I'm writing to know if there was the possibility to specify a "break down by" property through the API params, in the same way as we can do on the dashboard ? I can't figure out if the API supports this feature…Thanks :)Axel
Hi all, Is there an equivalent of Google Analytics Device Category in Amplitude? Here’s a post about how GA does it.I’m looking to segment our Web platform events and user properties further by Mobile vs Desktop (and Tablet as a bonus). Here's some Amplitude community topics, that I've found so far, and I think it requires segmenting by a combination of OS and Device type, but I can’t find a clean way of doing it. Many thanks in advance. Hi! Today to share edit rights for multiple reports we go to every individual report, click share button and enter email. That's quite time-wasting. Is it possible to share edit rights for multiple/all reports from dashboard in one click? Thanks in advance
Hi, I want to build a funnel of how users grow the user base by inviting others and if these new users actually finish any action. ImagineUser A creates playlist User A invites new user B to playlist (New User B creates an account) New user B plays song in playlistI can do this by the holding constant of the playlist id, but I would not know if the final play in the playlist is User A, B, or C (should only be user B) in this case.
I’ve created a stacked bar chart that displays the event total for a particular event. When I choose a set date range (since September 6th) and count up the total events in the graph I get a different number when it’s set at daily vs. set as weekly. Counting up the bars - daily totals 73, weekly totals 138. Why is there a disparity? Surely the total number of events in the time period should be the same?
Hi,We send events and certain user data to amplitude. example - start-Activity and then stop-Activity when user start an activity and when user stops the same activity.Would be interested to know if theres any way I could get users duration of that activity and also view dashboard for various users , adding to that grouped by certain event properties as well. Example Users can perform “Join-Class” <Event> - (start Activity), eventProperties (classId,timestamp), “Leave-Class” - (stop Activity), eventProperties(classId,timestamp).Any way I could get all users grouped by classId and duration of different users in that class performing activity.
We believe we are having some bots visiting one of our pages and we notice that such "visitors" have been recently identified with different amplitude_id's, see example in screenshot ; This pollutes are charts quite a lot as we are calculating user-level conversion rates in a funnel and the denominator is way too high because these are all counted multiple times instead of once. Can you please explain why these users all get a unique id?
Why would I see different values for the same event using Segmentation vs. first step of a Funnel analysis?
When I look at the TOTALS for my event (‘Entity Viewed’) in Segmentation for the month of November, I am seeing 8,337 event totals. When I look at that exact same event (‘Entity Viewed’) in Funnels for the month of November, I am seeing 767 - a drastically different “of” number than I saw seeing in the Segmentation analysis. What’s weird is that if I include a “holding constant” property, that 767 goes up...My understanding of Funnels is that if I choose the “Events performed in this order” option, then the first step of the Funnel should be the TOTALS, and the subsequent steps are only counted if the preceding steps (events) have been completed. I expected the TOTALS of that event in Segmentation to match the “of” number in the first step of my Funnel. Is am I misinterpreting how this works?*I have used the exact same event and same cohort properties in the top right module in both the Segmentation and Funnel analysis.
