Hi Amplitude Community! We would like to provide context about the quotation marks or leading space in CSV exports. Our engineering team modified exported CSVs to include additional quotation and tab characters in front of all values as a preventative measure for a security risk known with CSV downloads (details here). Attackers can potentially use a formula to inject false data or leak data. And in order to prevent formula triggering cells from running, our engineering team revamped our CSV exports by prefixing quotation and tab characters in front of all values. With that being said, while that security issue remains, we received feedback from customers who said that they were willing to take that risk. Therefore, we implemented a way to export CSVs from Amplitude without any characters in front for those users. If you are willing to take that risk as well, you can enable the feature to remove the spaces in your CSV in your Org Settings section on the Profile page. You can scroll down
Hi Amplitude Community, Amplitude currently does not support currency conversion. If you receive revenue in different currencies, then we recommend normalizing to a single currency before you send us revenue data. Amplitude logs the exact revenue value sent to us and treats it as a numerical value (not a currency value). By default, the currency sign we display in the dashboard is the dollar sign, "$".You can change this display under Organizational settings > Projects > Currency Display. Please check this doc for more information: https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/15581410157339. NOTE: Changing the currency display does not modify nor convert the underlying data. ----- please give this post a thumb-up if you find it helpful! This will help us know what content we should publish in the future :) -----Amplitude Team

Hi guys, we’d like to know what is the maximum character length is for the parameters we attach to an event? We’d like to use this info to limit the amount of chars on the frontend to a sensible length. Couldn’t find this info in the documentation nor in public headers, so it might be prudent to add it there as well.
Hello, I’m new to amplitude and I’m trying to recreate a plot we made with our legacy custom analytics scripts: we’re interested in how often users performed a specific event on average (= y-axis), grouped by how many days ago the users signed up (= x-axis). With this, we want to see how the typical user lifetime looks: how many days after signup do they start doing something (on average), how many days after signup do they stop doing something, etc. Is there a way to build such a chart in amplitude?Problem with Segmentation tool is that it just counts events grouped by calendar dates. I couldn’t find a way to make it group event counts with respect to the user’s timeline (days after signup).I also managed to get a histogram of event counts, but I was unable to plot the time evolution of average event count, grouped by days after the user’s signup event. Is there a way to do this in amplitude? Thanks in advance! :)
Hello dear communityI am trying to create a funnel but rather than having the condition “completed WITHIN 1 day” i would like to have “completed the day AFTER the first event”Is it possible? Thanks a lot for your help!Charlotte
Hi everybody!TL;DR: This guide explains how we solved our use case of needing dynamic cohorts based on stickiness. The solution involves combining derived properties and distinct values of property option for counting events in a cohort definition. At my workplace, we use stickiness to classify user engagement levels (e.g., a casual user is someone who uses the product for one week in a month, and a power user is someone who uses the product for three or more weeks in a month). We've been struggling to incorporate stickiness-based engagement into our dynamic cohorts, which are essential for our analytics.Recently, we found a good enough solution to our use case by combining derived properties and distinct values of property options for counting events in a cohort definition.1) To create a derived property that returns a numeric order of a week in a year, we used the Amplitude property `Server Upload Time` and transformed the timestamp to a week number using the following formula:`Week
Hi,We have defined the following:Power User = fires event A on 5 or more distinct days of the weekCore User = fires event A between 1 and 4 distinct days of the week Casual User = fires event A at least once a month, but not frequently enough to be a Core or Power userDormant User = Has gone more than 30 days without firing event A I am trying to create a chart that has weekly cadence, and shows me how my user population breaks down into these categories over time. Something like below (incorrect definitions used for the screenshot, but just wanted to convey what I envision the final product looking like). Week to week, if a user’s behavior changes, they would be represented in a different category. Which category a user is in for a given week depends only on the behavior they showed during that week (or during the last 30 days relative to that week if we’re talking about Dormant category). I tried using Behavioral Cohorts first, since I know there is an option to use “count in interva
Hi, I want to build a funnel of how users grow the user base by inviting others and if these new users actually finish any action. ImagineUser A creates playlist User A invites new user B to playlist (New User B creates an account) New user B plays song in playlistI can do this by the holding constant of the playlist id, but I would not know if the final play in the playlist is User A, B, or C (should only be user B) in this case.
I’m trying to find the fastest loading webpage in Amplitude that I can bookmark if I know I want to perform a search and want to get a search bar asap. Is there a way to bookmark the “Advanced Search” functionality? The webpage google.com is a good example of quick access to search 😀. In less than half a second, a search bar appears and the cursor already in the search field.
Hello there! I am building a dashboard that shows the amount in $$ that we generated and I want to use the PROPSUM formula for that. My business case is that a unique user can generate $$ more than one time, so I need to know if it's safe to use PROPSUM to account for the TOTALS and not Unique. Thanks in advance!!
We are trying to move out metrics to be more account based following getting the accounts add on. Many of the metrics we want to measure are structure like % of firms who have at least X users performing Y action. How can we build something like that?
Hi there! I have a report that it contains two graphs:Daily Accounts Opened Where I group by the number of applicants in that account and show it in a bar graph All Time Accounts Distribution Where the distribution is related to the number of applicants in that account I want to show the daily performance and also the all time performance BUT my report is making all views to show as daily. I wanted the report to follow the timeframe I've set in the graph. Is there a way to do it? Thanks in advance
I am attempting to segment a funnel chart by user properties. I see in the FAQ page that user properties are only applied to the first event in the funnel. In my case, the first event in the funnel is user sign up, so the property I want to segment doesn’t exist yet. One way I tried to combat this is by adding a segment of users who performed “Any active event” with the property: To validate this, I added a segment of users who performed “Any event” without any properties filtered out. In this image, I would think segment 1 and segment 2 would be identical (since all users who go through the funnel should have performed an event within 1 day of first use?) Why are these two segments different?
As referenced above, Row sums/totals can be quite useful in what my organization uses regularly. While I (on some level) I can understand why it’s not an option for totaling unique users (although allowing totaling with the understanding about de-duping is preferred), it would be quite helpful if row totals could be available across more charts/tables/etc. in Amplitude, if not at the very least in event totals. For my specific organization, the ability to sum up totals across multiple smaller time periods into a larger time period is quite helpful.
I'm having an issue exporting a saved dashboard to a PDF/PNG; the PDF/PNG shows up without data. This feature worked fine until last week (I’m using the Slack subscription). I went to the dashboard to see, and everything was showing fine, but when I downloaded it, the outline of the data cards was there, but there was no data or images inside the cards. Seems to be related to this
I am in the process of building a Viral K table I have an event referralShared that triggers when a new unique URL is created for sharing invites. Another one referralSuccessfulAccept whenever an install happens post clicking a referralShared URL. To calculate Viral K, the referralSuccessfulAccept should be a week delayed from the referralShared creation. i.e., if I were to look at the Viral K for this week, it should only show last week’s referralShared and this week’s referralShared and compute. It should REMOVE all referralShared for this week. How do I achieve this?
I'm having an issue where if I export a saved dashboard to a PDF, the PDF is showing up without data. This feature worked fine as recently as the beginning of Jan. When I download the PDF, the outline of the data cards are there, but there is no data or images inside the cards. When I export as PNG, the data shows up fine.
