Deprecating fields from the Export data format

Hi all,We’ve begun the process of deprecating a few fields from our Export API in order to simplify the format and remove misleading/confusing information. Here is the list of affected fields. Note that to preserve backwards compatibility, these fields will continue to exist as keys in the JSON data, but their value will always be null.$schema: removed, an Amplitude-internal field. is_attribution_event: removed, an Amplitude-internal field. amplitude_event_type: removed, an Amplitude-internal field. device_manufacturer: removed, data is duplicated inside device_type/device_family. device_brand: removed, data is duplicated inside device_type/device_family. device_model: removed, data is duplicated inside device_type/device_family. user_creation_time: removed, an inaccurate timestamp. 2023 Update: Amplitude is renewing its certificate

On Saturday February 18th, 2023 at 8AM PT, we will be renewing a certificate used for api.amplitude.com and analytics.amplitude.com domains. We are only updating our end-entity certificate without any changes to our intermediate or root certificates. For the vast majority of situations, we do not expect any impact with sending data to Amplitude or using Amplitude Analytics.How do I know if I’m impacted?To understand if you are impacted, please reach out to your team responsible for your Amplitude implementation (e.g. IT, Engineering, team who handles the Amplitude SDK) and send them the information present in this post.Have your team review the following information and if you answer yes to either of the two points below, then you are impacted. Your systems trusts only the current Amplitude end-entity certificate that is expiring on February 28th, 2023 Your systems pin the entire certificate chain The above scenarios are very uncommon and most users will not require action from this

We’ve updated the Source creation and configuration process to streamline workflows for Data Governors. These changes make it easier to quickly create Sources and start using them in planning without needing to determine technical implementation details ahead of time.The following items are impacted: Source creation in Data web app (Updated) Implementation page in Data (Removed) Ampli CLI pull command (Updated) configure command (Added) Requirements: Ampli CLI 1.30.0+ Adds the configure command Ampli CLI < 1.30.0 Full support for configured sources. How can I access the Community?You have three options: Use your existing Amplitude login: If you’re a current Amplitude user and customer, you can use the same email and password for Amplitude Community as you do for the Amplitude Digital Analytics Platform. Click on the “Sign In” button above in the Community navigation. You may be prompted to authenticate with the same email and password you use for the Amplitude platform. You can then register for any course or video in one click. Create a Community guest account: If you don’t have an Amplitude account, you may sign up for a Community guest account. Get a free Amplitude and Amplitude Academy account: You can also start a free Amplitude account. TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 cryptographic standards removal notice

Amplitude application interfaces (API) to enforce a minimum of TLS 1.2 beginning Nov 28, 2022.Security and privacy are of paramount priority here at Amplitude and we are constantly evolving our security processes based on industry best practices. Part of that evolution is the enforcement of strong cryptographic standards in our environment. The use of at least TLS 1.2 is a recommended security best practice for improved privacy and data integrity and to maintain compliance with the latest industry standards. Last year, Amplitude removed support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 on Amplitude’s web application https://analytics.amplitude.com. We continued API support for TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 until now to maintain backward compatibility for customers that have older or difficult to update clients. However, given industry adoption of the TLS 1.2 and negligible traffic received using these older versions,Amplitude has made the decision to employ these higher standards across our environment and d

Our Developer Experience Team digs deep into our user experience and journey. We are excited to introduce a couple features we worked on this year. Ampli - More Platforms And Source Control The Ampli CLI, Ampli SDK work together to generate a tracking library based on your Tracking Plan. Different from Amplitude SDK, it provides these benefits: Tracking plan is automatically converted to code, preventing the need for looking up Event definitions and converting them to Events by hand. Prevents typos and inconsistencies that can happen using untyped SDK. Strong types enforce event schema at compile time via static analysis, preventing bad data before it's created. Easy for developers to check implementation status. The CLI command `ampli status` displays a list of instrumented events which are missing.
