Device ID when using Safari browser

Hello, Does anyone know the reason why a user gets two distinct device IDs when visiting a same domain (e.g. hello.example.com and example.com) from a Safari browser? It seems like this only happens when the user is using Safari not Chrome or other browsers. I’m unable to track the users through their journey if they’re using Safari due to this problem.

How to configure my webhook to send data on a Make automation?

Hello :)I'm trying to send event data to a webhook on a Make workflow. The payload I'm using is :  { "event_type" : "${input.event_type}", "event_time" : "${input.event_time}", "user_properties" : { "email" : "${input.user_properties.email!}", "organization_id" : "${input.user_properties.organization_id!}", "organization_name" : "${input.user_properties.organization_name!}", "language" : "${input.user_properties.language!}" }} However, at the moment I literally receive this information on my Make automation 😅 (and not the dynamic data). Also, the status of this webhook on Amplitude is enabled but it doesn't seem to be sending anything to my automation.Could you please help me?

Splitting event properties for nested json

How to configure default properties for events?

Hey, we have a set of properties that every event should have. Since we’re trying to establish a flow where we create the event with it’s name, properties etc. in Amplitude Data first, then push it over to Jira using the integration, I was looking for a way to define some properties as standard properties for an event.The goal would be that when someone creates a new event, these default properties are always there already and also cannot be removed. This is to ensure data consistency.If this is not possible, I would be interested in how possible review/approval flows could like where a “data shepard” looks at each event that is about to be implemented to ensure it follows our guidelines.

Events sent to Amplitude are not displayed

Hello, everyone. Thank you for your help about my previous post. And I have another problem and I’d like anyone to help me for fixing this problem. As each event is transmitted, there are images captured in sequence. Please check the attached captures. I have sent 5 different events to Amplitude and checked them through the logs. unable to filter new user correctly after trying HTTP V2 API and Batch Event Upload API so that old users are being considered as new users

hi im having problem with merging existing users who signed up in the past into present Amplitude.I’ve tried getting data of existing users who were signed up before I used Amplitude.I’ve tried with two ways(HTTP V2 API, Batch API) with event types like [Amplitude] New User, [Amplitude] Merged User and custom event types like ‘Batch_SignedUp’. It was successful so far cuz I could see the history events of the user.But eventhough the user had history event like ‘Batch_SignedUp’ in the past, it shows up on the segmentation dashboard showing New User(event) . the usere shouldn’t be there cuz they were not new users when i check their user streams.so im filtering them by using segment ‘users who performed Batch_SignedUp’.is this general situation or am i doing sth wrong?would be better old users(who signed up before i started using Amplitude) to get filtered correctly so that they won’t be considered as new user.(now, considered as new user at the time the did sth after i installed Amplitu

User's event history shows multiple sessions started at exactly the same time

Hi everyone,I was analyzing user behavior, and in one user’s event history I found a strange pattern. On one day, the user had multiple sessions that started at the same time and ended at the same time. There are no events reported in between the Session Start and Session End events as well. Attached is a screenshot for reference.Would appreciate any ideas on why this is happening. Right now, I suspect either the setup or user is causing this. For the setup, we initialize amplitude without setting any props at the top of our next.js app using the Browser SDK. As far as the user goes, I’m not sure what’s going on on their end. Thanks for reading and brainstorming with me!

Un-merged users & migrating initial_ user attributes

Hi there,Background: We're were having some issues with users' initial attributes in amplitude being set in a way that doesn't reflect the segment data that we have on them.IE. if we look the users up in amplitude and in segment, their initial_ values don't match, and that's giving us a lot of trouble trying to create attribution rules that make sense for the organization.  ex. in amplitude, the user's initial_ properties look like they're being brought in via email (which doesn't make intuitive sense because email has to be collected on site)... and then when we look them up in segment, we can see the true referring urls are from meta. Progress: After some additional investigation, we found that our Segment integration with Amplitude maps Segment Anonymous IDs → Amplitude Device ID. We looked up a user’s identifiers in Segment’s Unify and found two different anonymous IDs associated with the user. In amplitude, these device IDs (anonymous ids) were associated with two distinct users.

Set consnet mode with Browser SDK 2.0, difference using between optOut vs. localStorage

Hi community. I would like to ask how to set consent mode with Browser SDK 2.0.I need to track events without cookies. I tried optOut setting and localStorage setting.optOut setting: added a line, amplitude.setOptOut(true); localStorage setting: added option in initialization code amplitude.init(‘API key’, { identityStorage : ‘localStorage’}) When I tried no1, still I could find AMP_ cookies but I couldn’t find when I tried no2.So, here are real questions,Did I try appropriate ways? If not, please let me know how can I track events without cookies. In that case, I think no2 is the right way to achieve to my purpose. But when I searched ‘localStorage’ in console, I cannot find how can I track events. My ultimate purpose is get as same as possible to GA4 consent mode.I am not a developer so I have lack of knowledge of implement technical things. So please let me know specifictly how to do. Thanks a lot!

How to remove the log for default events on initialization?

I'm using Browser SDK 2.0 to track some default events. I also have my logLevel set to None. For the most part I am not seeing logs shown. However, on initializing Amplitude it always spits out a log in the console saying what events I'm tracking as default. For me it's Page Views, Sessions, & File Downloads. Is there a way to remove this default events log? I would like the console to not include any output.

Default tracking causing brwoser freezeing

defaultTracking: { pageViews: false, attribution: true, sessions: true, fileDownloads: false, // will hang the browser if true formInteractions: false // will hang the browser if true },While installing Amplitude in our web application, which has Mapbox embedded, we see that the default tracking fileDownloads and formInteractions  interferes somehow with leaflet map and cause the browser to freeze, if either is true or both are true. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Conversion rate when using Holding Constant

We are trying to determine valid conversions in a funnel using Holding Constant based on “product_id” . However, the conversion rate is aggregated based on the (user, product_id) pair, making it difficult for us to understand the user-based conversion rate we are looking for. How can we aggregate the conversion rate on a user basis in the funnel while using group by and Holding Constant?"

404 error in the Update event type of the Taxonomy API

It works fine with the Get an event type.but in the Update event type, I always encounter a 404 Not Found error. I understand the difference between GET and PUT,and I have correctly input the path parameters, but I still face this issue. I have tried directly using Postman and also made requests through a Python script, but the problem persists. Am I missing something, or is there an error causing this?Please help me, Thanks

How to plot the evolution of mean aggregated event count on user timeline

Hello, I’m new to amplitude and I’m trying to recreate a plot we made with our legacy custom analytics scripts: we’re interested in how often users performed a specific event on average (= y-axis), grouped by how many days ago the users signed up (= x-axis). With this, we want to see how the typical user lifetime looks: how many days after signup do they start doing something (on average), how many days after signup do they stop doing something, etc. Is there a way to build such a chart in amplitude?Problem with Segmentation tool is that it just counts events grouped by calendar dates. I couldn’t find a way to make it group event counts with respect to the user’s timeline (days after signup).I also managed to get a histogram of event counts, but I was unable to plot the time evolution of average event count, grouped by days after the user’s signup event. Is there a way to do this in amplitude? Thanks in advance! :)
