Hello! I have some strange problem. We need to track user acquisition channels, first and last channels. I thought we can use initial_utm and utm parameters, but it doesn't work. Case: 1) I have user in our platform, He have this parametersЖ initial_utm_source = facebookutm_source = facebook2) I visit site on new browser, without any previous data, with utm parameters in url: utm_source = test3) Amplitude create new user without user id(that we will set after registration), with properties: initial_utm_source = testutm_source = test4) After that I log in with creds users from step 1 and Apmlitude was merged users What I wait: User from step 1 has properties: initial_utm_source = facebookutm_source = test(becouse users was merged and properties was updated) What I get: User from step 1 has properties: initial_utm_source = testutm_source = testThis is really bad for our, becouse we need to track user visit from first channel---Set utm parameters like this:amplitude.getInstance().init("AP

We have same problem discussed in this topic: But it seems no one is replying anymore. We want the initial_utm_source to be set only once and not be changed later. Our orgID is 164839 and projectID is 519847. How are you tracking events for client side rendered pages and server side rendered pages in nextjs?We've set up  Ampli and Amplitude's browser SDK for our nextjs app’s analytics. We currently initialize it in a context provider that wraps the whole application and this works fine for client side components. I'm trying to figure out how to call our analytics for our server side rendered pages as well. Currently, I'm getting a "ERROR: Ampli is not yet initialized. Have you called ampli.load() on app start?" on server side rendered pages since they don’t see the context provider.In an ideal world, we’d be able to call ampli events from client pages and server side rendered pages using the same tracking plan.

Hi,We use Amplitude to track activity on our B2B which requires a login, so we set our UserID to be the email address, we also store a duplicate user property called Email (just in case we want to change the UserID later).  So for every event we get pass the user’s email twice.I’m considering data retention and wondered if there’s any way to pseudonymise these values if I want to forget a particular user, but not lose their event history?

hi im having problem with merging existing users who signed up in the past into present Amplitude.I’ve tried getting data of existing users who were signed up before I used Amplitude.I’ve tried with two ways(HTTP V2 API, Batch API) with event types like [Amplitude] New User, [Amplitude] Merged User and custom event types like ‘Batch_SignedUp’. It was successful so far cuz I could see the history events of the user.But eventhough the user had history event like ‘Batch_SignedUp’ in the past, it shows up on the segmentation dashboard showing New User(event) . the usere shouldn’t be there cuz they were not new users when i check their user streams.so im filtering them by using segment ‘users who performed Batch_SignedUp’.is this general situation or am i doing sth wrong?would be better old users(who signed up before i started using Amplitude) to get filtered correctly so that they won’t be considered as new user.(now, considered as new user at the time the did sth after i installed Amplitu

Hi everyone, I have two questions:How does Amplitude conduct its funnel analysis? What attributes does it base on when determining if the following event was conducted? I want to start analyzing the reasons did not move on to the next step, is there a way to extract the raw data of amplitude’s comparison. I want to create a “JOIN” between the event’s (step 1 and step 2) raw data and then see what is in common for those who did not complete the funnel.Thanks!

Hello there, Originally posted as a response to this question, but I am creating a new one since it has already been marked as resolved.  When I go to Settings > Organization Settings > Projects > Session Definition, it only lets me define the session property but not the start/end event or the timeout minutes.I'm on the Starter Plan. I have Admin privileges. I'm not applying for the scholarship.Any reason why I don't see these settings in modal? Best,Yamato

Hi everyone,I was analyzing user behavior, and in one user’s event history I found a strange pattern. On one day, the user had multiple sessions that started at the same time and ended at the same time. There are no events reported in between the Session Start and Session End events as well. Attached is a screenshot for reference.Would appreciate any ideas on why this is happening. Right now, I suspect either the setup or user is causing this. For the setup, we initialize amplitude without setting any props at the top of our next.js app using the Browser SDK. As far as the user goes, I’m not sure what’s going on on their end. Thanks for reading and brainstorming with me!

Hi there,Background: We're were having some issues with users' initial attributes in amplitude being set in a way that doesn't reflect the segment data that we have on them.IE. if we look the users up in amplitude and in segment, their initial_ values don't match, and that's giving us a lot of trouble trying to create attribution rules that make sense for the organization.  ex. in amplitude, the user's initial_ properties look like they're being brought in via email (which doesn't make intuitive sense because email has to be collected on site)... and then when we look them up in segment, we can see the true referring urls are from meta. Progress: After some additional investigation, we found that our Segment integration with Amplitude maps Segment Anonymous IDs → Amplitude Device ID. We looked up a user’s identifiers in Segment’s Unify and found two different anonymous IDs associated with the user. In amplitude, these device IDs (anonymous ids) were associated with two distinct users.

It seems there is a whole bunch of information on how to use the charts on amplitude, but not much on how to connect your website to amplitude.  Can someone please link me to a good place to learn or help mentor me a little. I would like to learn a bit more on how to take the code snippets from amplitude, adjust them to the right code for the infomation I am looking for, and then add them to my website. I am willing to pay someone who is good at this stuff to help me get this fine tuned.

Hello, I have a question regarding user attribution before logged inI have a banking application which users can transfer money, open saving / fixed account, and many more like other banking apps do. My main focus right now is to know what kind of users try to open the accounts e.g., new banking user, or existing banking user. Here are the steps that the user need to proceed View Onboarding page View Services page where they can select a service. In this case let say ‘Open Fixed Account’ Enter National ID Card Number Verify Personal Data - we collect user prop as ‘user_status’From the steps above, we are able to know who the user is after they enter national id card successfully. However, we have no data for the first two steps.  My question is I wonder if there are any ways we can identify user before they do login, whether they are new or existing banking users who try to open the fixed account from the very first step they enter to the app (but not login or enter national id card ye

Hi team,I’ve come across this topic about the Property Grouphttps://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/5078762828699-Streamline-property-updates-with-property-groups The article mentioned how to create (in the Amplitude console) and add them to an Event which is the use case that I’m looking for. But I still wonder that don’t we need to add those properties in the code before ? Can we just put one line of code and apply to several selected events ?   Let me give some examples of my use case,So I’m working on a bank app for my client, they would like to know the status of user during the first step until they convert - open an account. The user status consist of a member to the bank or non member. Due to this I think we need to add the user status to every event in the open account journey. Property Group is suitable for my case, I guess. So I would like to find out the way to implement the property in this case in more detail. 

I'm using Browser SDK 2.0 to track some default events. I also have my logLevel set to None. For the most part I am not seeing logs shown. However, on initializing Amplitude it always spits out a log in the console saying what events I'm tracking as default. For me it's Page Views, Sessions, & File Downloads. Is there a way to remove this default events log? I would like the console to not include any output.

What is a good way to track an event property that applies to nearly every single event, but is not semantically a ‘user’ property? Imagine an application like Google Docs, where you’re creating text documents online. You might have events like ‘Inserted Image’, ‘Applied Heading’, ‘Performed Undo’, ‘Inserted List’, ‘Corrected Typo’, ‘Added Comment' and some 50-100 more. And for every one of them, you’d like to record document id (the long string in the url https://docs.google.com/document/d/<documentId>/edit). You probably also want to record things like user’s access level to the given document (owner/editor/commenter/reader) and whatnot. In this scenario, should documentId/documentAccessLevel/etc be event properties or a user properties? We are trying to determine valid conversions in a funnel using Holding Constant based on “product_id” . However, the conversion rate is aggregated based on the (user, product_id) pair, making it difficult for us to understand the user-based conversion rate we are looking for. How can we aggregate the conversion rate on a user basis in the funnel while using group by and Holding Constant?"

Hi,I need advise on how to better organize tracking via Amplitude.CONTEXTWe have 3 different space: A) Public website with content B) Web app (Single page application with some onboarding form) C) IOS mobile appEvents coming from A are sometimes (usually) coming from anonymous users until they sign up or log in and then we identify them. When user login via B) web platform we create a user_id and he can fill in the onboarding form or see a screen with QR code or button to download the app. Or user can sign in via app for a first time and we create user_id at that moment. I want to implement JS SDK Web Attribution to track some activity on Web ( click button, view page) but most important store UTM parameters as user property and send it with all event user perform on mob app.  So the goal performs behavior user analysis in mobile app based on the source he came from (utm source, campaign and others).  The questions are:1) Could I create two different projects Web and Mobile and share o

As new Amplitude users we noticed a weird pattern in our attribution data where Facebook.com and accounts.google.com were being attributed as referrers for a significant number of our registration events.We quickly realised that when our users opted to authenticate via Google or Facebook’s social sign-in, they were temporarily leaving our domain to go to the respective site to give us permission to authenticate. When they come back to our domain, despite it still being the same session, Amplitude is overwriting the true attribution data e.g. referrer, referring domain, UTMs, etc, with either facebook.com or accounts.google.com.We’ve excluded accounts.google.com as a referrer which neatly solves that one. Annoyingly as visitors who come from Facebook appear as facebook.com regardless of whether they clicked on a link, or came via the authentication page there’s no way to exclude that domain without losing attribution on genuine organic FB registrations.We’ve been speaking with Amplitude

Hello Everyone,I am experiencing this weird while defining the session, it’s only allowing me to define the property for grouping the session but not the start / end event or timeout minutes  While I was on the free plan I changed the definition to timeout after 15mins, it was working fine but I have applied for scholarship today itself and Amplitude team has given me the full access of the growth plan till the application is in review, but it had changed the session definition to what it was before (keeping sessionId constant) and it is not allowing me to change the same.  Thanks,Advait

I have a question about the User Sessions chart. It seems to display incorrect data, as we haven't initiated any events for the service. The chart occasionally spikes abnormally. :( 

I am using Broswer SDK 2.3.0 but unable to use  includeUtm: true Any idea what might be root cause of the issue?
