CI/CD for Tracking Plan when the source is a CDP

I love the way Amplitude deals with data governance! It makes so much sense to have a defined data tracking plan, and being able to make sure that all incoming events are a part of this plan.In our team, we use 3 environments, translating to 3 Amplitude projects - Dev, Staging, and Prod.I’d like to be able to “promote” a tracking plan from Dev to Staging to Prod. This would be achieved with the Ampli CLI, which seems like the right tool for the job.My issue arise from my usage of a CDP (Rudderstack) between my code generating the events, and Amplitude.The Ampli CLI ignores my Rudderstack source as it has no name - but I have no way to define a name for it in the UI. I’d love to learn of different ways I can use the Amplitude Tracking Plan as part of my CI/CD pipeline, or how to use the Ampli CLI with a CDP source. Thanks!Irad

Invalid API key error: 400 Bad request

Hi there,I’m new to Amplitude.I’m using the Browser SDK and getting the following error in the console only in production env (in local, dev env it works well):“Amplitude Logger [Error]: Invalid API key”This is my codefunction InitAmplitude() { if (environment.AMPLITUDE_API_KEY && environment.IS_AMPLITUDE_TRACKED) { amplitude.init(environment.AMPLITUDE_API_KEY, { serverZone: 'US', defaultTracking: true, }); }}I double, triple checked and the API key matches what I got from Amplitude’s settings. What am I doing wrong?

Average Number of Unique Items in an Array

I have a parameter that is an array of ID’s. I would like to understand the average size of this array between my events.  I saw this Distinct Property Values Per User option in the Segmentation chart.  This seems promising but I just want to understand if I’m reading the results correctly. I could see it one of two interpretations:Each array SET is a “value”. Therefore if I fire this event 3 times with 3 different array contents, then that would be 3 different values Each value within the array is counted as a distinct value, and so if there are 6 items in the array, then a user would appear as “6” for that day. I would hope it is #2, as it would help me solve my questions. But a clarification of how this works would be great.

Visualizing user composition by frequency of visits (DAU/WAU/MAU)

Hi Amplitude community, I’m fairly new to the world of Amplitude but have been really enjoying the tooling so far :)I’m wondering if there’s a good way to visualize user composition by frequency of usage--e.g. building a pie chart that will show a breakdown of number of users who are active on a daily vs. weekly vs. monthly basis.I’ve been looking at the User Composition chart but it seems to only allow composition by user properties. Any advice/pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Misunderstanding on account level reporting

Hello, I added my user to groups, and I was reading this article - https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001765532-Account-level-reporting-in-Amplitude which suggests that If I click on one of the groups i should see some statistics about that group right? However I see just a blank page :  Am I missing something here? Also there are my groups And there is my code snipper of adding user to these groups: All help is appreciated ;)

AnonId is being replaced

We are running into issues where the anonymous id that’s been set when a new user visits our site changes as this same user creates an account. We call Identify right after the user creates an account and before the next page loads. A user Id is set but then a new anonymous id has been set replacing the old one which breaks our acquisition reports which are typically tied to anonId. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you solve for this?Note: our registration flow is built on vue as a SPA

How to integrate Amplitude SDK to iOS (SwiftUI)?

Amplitude’s Quickstart Guide lacks the most important part, after installing Amplitude SDK as a dependency, it gives this code to init it:import AmplitudeSwiftlet amplitude = Amplitude( configuration: Configuration( apiKey: "YOUR-API-KEY" ))OK, … so what should I do with it (after I insert my own API Key)? Should it be in the @main ‘s init? Should I put it in didFinishLaunchingWithOptions ? Include it as a Singleton? Or a static var? Or paste this let amplitude = Amplitude(configuration...) in each file? P.S. I’ve looked at the SDK on GitHub and noticed that they use the static var approach. As I understand it, this way Amplitude won’t be initialized until that static var is accessed for the first time. So if my app has 5 consecutive screens and I track an Amplitude Event on Screen #4, — only then will Amplitude start, and only then will fire Session events (session start), which would be incorrect as the user started his session on Screen #1. P.P.S. Getting started: connect your first app

Trying to do the getting started, noticed that the documentation seems to be outdated for connection with swift. `amplitude.track("Sign Up")`  Is no longer how to track via latest swift update.I’m sending my event like this:       amplitude = Amplitude(configuration: Configuration(          apiKey: "PROVIDED API KEY"      ))      let event = BaseEvent(eventType: "Sign Up")      amplitude.track(event: event)      print("Sign up event")With this the Verify your installation in realtime has been “listening” for over 12 hours and have not gotten past this step.  I’ve even tried uploading the test data as a cvs and am still stuck here.  Any help would be appricated.

How to create an event with different states.

So the best way to ask this may be by telling you what i am doing. I want to create on event  such as “sign up button clicked” and then i want to have two different states or maybe versions of the this event. That way i can track the event across split tests of my site. So for example say I have a live site and a test site. I have 200 users visit the site and 100 visitors go to the live site and 100 go to test site. 50 people click the “start sign up button” on the live site and 65 click it on the test site. I currently have the event set up like this: export function startedSignup_amplitude() {    const eventType = startedSignUp    const eventProperties = {        type: dev,    }    amplitude.track(eventType, eventProperties)}  my plan was to change the event properties type to either live or test based on which version they are on. but i cant seem to find where the event properties are being tracked at all in amplitude. is there a better way of doing this?

New Developer Here With Some UTM Questions

Hello, I am developing amplitude with my ecommerce website smartbettor.ai. I have currently implemented amplitude to track events using the java script sdk. I track payments with stripe and want to track sign ups. After a successful stripe checkout users are redirected to a registration form. The only way to complete sign up is to complete this registration form so I have our ‘sign up’ event being the submission of this form. There are 2 problems with this currently.  Numbers between what stripe says the customer sign ups are and what amplitude is saying are very different. Why would amplitude not be able to track every time this event happens and have significantly less than what stripe says? We want to track utm source. We are starting ad campaigns and want to know what website the user came from. I added these lines which I assumed would track: includeUtm: true, // Track UTM parameters includeReferrer: true, // Track referrer includeGclid: true, // Track Google Click Identifier incl

Wix hosted site not firing events not firing since 4/28?

Hello, I have a site hosted on Wix that was firing events via the Browser SDK the week of 4/24, but stopped on 4/28. I have been unable to get anything to fire since then? I re-copied the SDK JS to the header injection on WIX but nothing? I am a Amplitude newbie. Any ideas? Jim

Unable to delete valid user via API

Hi Team, our service makes request to Amplitude Delete API by first finding user details then submitting a delete request. Despite the fact we receive valid userId and amplitudeId from findUser API, the Delete API returns “Nothing scheduled due to invalid amplitude/user ids for org...” We have retried this Delete API call > 10 times. Furthermore, when this has happened in the past, subsequent calls to the Delete API were successful in the 2nd try. So the team is unsure of how to proceed.Might the team have any insight?

Adding Amplitude to a Wix Site

Please do not point me to the documentation. I have read through all of the documentations and they are all missing something for how to actually make Amplitude work on Wix. I have done exactly what this article says, and i have followed both the outdated and the new version of this article. I have even added the SDK right into the page code itself and still no dice. Every time i run it i get the “amplitude is not defined” error. It is behaving as though no library of functions is ever called. If i had to guess i need to place something along the lines of “import amplitude from *********” somewhere. Something like this has to be missing from the documentation. If anyone has actually successfully added amplitude to a Wix website would you please show me how?

Hello everyone! I would like to perform analyses considering all users from a company as a single entity, as our analyses are based on how many companies use our service, not how many individual users do... Is it possible to create this segmentation/group in the Starter plan?I would also like to create specific groups, for example, only Company A, B, and C.Is that possible as well?

Send limited event parameters in event streaming

I use data streaming to send Amplitude events to various marketing platforms, like Customer.io. Things used to work as I’d expect: Amplitude automatically sent all event parameters for that event to Customer.io. A few months ago that stopped happening, and Amplitude only would send the event with no parameters. Since we use the parameters to trigger different campaigns, I had to manually check event parameters under “send additional properties”, and each time we add a new event we need to go into Amplitude and check any new parameter to make sure it’s sent. The result of this is we are sending tons of empty event parameters for each event, the list of params we checked off in amplitude. Is there a way to go back to the old behavior of streaming all event parameters associated with an event to Customerio, but nothing else?

Getting PageView statistic ignoring ids (UUIDs) in the urls.

Let’s assume that there is a page which shows product details.URL is https://mydomain/product/{productId}/details.{productId} is UUID.There are a lot of products.I want to know how popular this page across all products (not separately for each product).I need to build a chart which will show pages popularity ignoring any ids in the URL (aggregated statistic across all ids). What is the best practice of doing this?Do I need to customize PageView event when tracking it and add extra parameter e.g. NormalizedURL with all ids removed besides normal URL? Or is it possible to normilize URL when building chart itself?

Basic website events + Tracking attribution data on Javascript SDK

Hi all, I’m new to Amplitude, not a dev, and I have a few basic questions. We have a website and a web app, and we’re going to use Amplitude to track user behavior on both. Our website is Webflow, and our web app is Flutter. To track both our website (example.com) and web app (app.example.com), we have to install an Amplitude SDK on both, correct?  For tracking behavior on our website, do we have to create all (basic) events ourselves? As in: session start, page view, form submission, etc? Or are these basic events in Amplitude by default?  Our dev team told me that for our web app, we have to use the JavaScript SDK (Maintenance) because we’re on Flutter. The Javascript SDK documentation states the following: “While Amplitude’s JavaScript SDK doesn’t collect web attribution data by default, setting it up is simple. The SDK can automatically collect this information if you enable attribution configuration options.”  — Where/how do we configure this? Is this something we can do from Ampl

List cohorts API - sorting and pagination?

Hi!Is there any kind of sorting and pagination available for the list cohorts API? (https://www.docs.developers.amplitude.com/analytics/apis/behavioral-cohorts-api/#get-all-cohorts) Obviously the API can’t return the details of an infinite number of cohorts. We appear to be getting 140 back, but this doesn’t include all cohorts for the project. From the documentation it looks like there are no sorting or pagination parameters available. Is that really the case?How are the results from the API ordered? It doesn’t seem to be any of the parameters that might make sense like “createdAt”, “lastMod” or “lastComputed”.

Amplitude is not accurately tracking new users and active users

We have been using Amplitude for months and this month (July 2023) we noticed that the new users and current users on Amplitude is off. On July 12, it showed having 1000+ MAU for the month of July and hundreds of new users. When I checked back on July 14, there were less than 100 new users, a couple hundred active users, and hundreds of dormant users. We use Firebase as well and can see that we have hundreds of new users but Amplitude is not reporting them.  Please help because this is throwing off all of our analytics. We have not changed anything in our code base that can account for this change - especially since this happened mid month.

Disabling IP Tracking and Clarifying Device ID Handling in Node.js SDK

Hello,I'm planning to use the Node.js SDK to send Revenue events as they're processed by my payment system. However, I've encountered a couple of challenges that I need some guidance on: IP Address Tracking: The Revenue events are being logged with my server's IP address. Since all events originate from the server, they share the same IP address, which is causing some confusion in our data analysis. I'm interested in disabling IP tracking for all server-sent events to avoid this issue. Is there a way to globally disable IP address tracking for events sent through the Node.js SDK? Device ID Tracking in a Server-Side Context: How does Device ID tracking function on the server side? Given that these events are dispatched from a server, is there a risk that the server is assigned a single Device ID?
