Question

User information is not being set, and the error "Amplitude Logger [Error]: Failed to fetch" occurs.

Our service uses Amplitude for all users, but for certain users, Amplitude does not record any data at all, making it impossible to track their user information and activity logs.

We also use tools like Datadog in parallel, and while Datadog records data correctly, Amplitude fails to log events, showing the error message mentioned in the title.

Is there a possible solution to this issue?

Hi Ethan,

Thank you for reaching out! I understand you’re encountering the error 'Amplitude Logger [Error]: Failed to fetch,' which is preventing data logging for certain users. Let’s work together to resolve this issue.

This could be due to a variety of reasons, including network issues, ad-blockers, or other security setups that block Amplitude endpoints. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

- **Ad-blockers or security setups**: Some users might have ad-blockers or certain security setups enabled, which can block Amplitude tracking. While Amplitude does not offer official support for circumventing ad-blockers, a workaround suggested is to run a reverse proxy through your own domain. This process is technical and should ideally be done by an Engineer or a Developer. You can find more details on what a proxy service is and how to use it in this setting.
- **Network issues**: If users are experiencing network issues or if they close the browser or navigate away from your funnel before the events have been sent to Amplitude, these events might not be recorded.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, could you provide additional details to help us investigate further? Specifically:

- Are the affected users using specific devices, browsers, or operating systems?
- Are there any patterns in the locations or networks of the users experiencing this issue?
- Which SDK version are you currently using?
- Detailed network request payload when this error occur, e.g cURL.

Please let me know if you need clarification on any of the steps or if the issue persists after trying these solutions. I’ll be happy to assist further!
