Tracking one Event from various Sources

Can one Event has 2 or more Sources?

Yes….we’ve got this in our setup where we have a fair few events (with the same name) that can occur on our website or our app so appear in Amplitude from different sources (and different platforms).

@dangrainger Thanks for sharing your experience!

Did your events from different sources and platforms have the exact same attributes?

We want to send two events with the same name from different platform and sources, but also different attributes.

We are not sure if that will be interpreted by Amplitude as the same event.

Best and thank you for the help!

Yes, it’ll be the same event . Here’s a random scenario for you…

On my website I pass an event named “button_click” with two event properties named “prop1” and “prop2”. Then on my iOS app I pass the same “button_click” event to the same Amplitude project but this time with event properties “prop2” and “prop3”. In Amplitude you’ll then have the single “button click” event name with all three event properties…you can split website VS native app using the Platform property, and you’ll see values for the event properties on the relevant platforms.
