Weekly retention / change over time

Hi, guys! 

I’m trying to understand how weekly retention and custom brackets work. As an experiment I’ve created two charts - one for standard weekly retention shown as change over time and the other for custom bracket 7-13 daily retention also shown as change over time. 

I expected that Week 1 retention and weighted average of the same 7 days of 7-13 daily retention would be roughly at the same level. But in fact the difference is around 25% between them and I can’t wrap my head around it. Am I missing something?

Since you are using a change over time chart, can you share with me how you are calculating the weighted average of the same 7 days of 7-13 daily retention? What do you have set as the date range for the weekly and daily chart, and are those dates aligned?
