It would help me SPLIT various utm paramaters and other identifier strings, saving the new parts as number properties.

Also, the math functions only work with number values, which has restricted me.

Someone else in the community has already suggested this idea in the past. https://community.amplitude.com/topic/show?tid=728&fid=57

Thanks for the feedback @Jacobt Somehow we missed this idea! It’s been submitted to our product team for consideration.

Hey @Amplitude Admin ! Is there an anticipated release date for a STRING_TO_NUMBER type function for derived properties? This would be a game changer.

I have the same requirement (see https://thecohortcommunity.slack.com/archives/C05SFGW7C5N/p1741341298906479 ) :

I am trying to write a derived property that translates "v2.26.0" -> "2.13"  . Splitting the v2.26.0 to get '26' works, but the result is a string, so I can't apply 'MINUS()' . The challenge is less the extracting, but rather then turning the '26' which is a string, into a number so it can be used with the MINUS() function, which only allows numbers
