Amplitude’s Best Practices:
-
Note: Segment does not have the concept of a session.
-
It is strongly recommended that you review this documentation if you are looking to define a session in Amplitude within User Look-Up or to fully use any of Amplitude’s session-based charts (such as User Sessions & Pathfinder Users).
-
-
In Amplitude, a session is defined as a period of time that the user has the application open in the foreground.
-
If session tracking is available, then events logged within the same session will have the same Session ID. A new session is started if the application enters the foreground after being in the background or closed for more than 5 minutes. The session time-out windows may be customized in Amplitude (see documentation here).
