We were trying out connecting the marketing automation tools and faced some problems.
I tried adding MailChimp as a source. After verifying the connection with my admin account on MailChimp, the notification said it was successfully connected. But it was not correctly connected as a source. Instead, it was a destination. I tried a couple of times, but MailChimp always added as a destination. I recorded what I did step by step; please help me add MailChimp as a source.
Thank you for contacting Amplitude Support. Happy to help!
I understand that you would like to add MailChimp as a data source. It is important to note that after Amplitude starts receiving events from your Mailchimp audience, Mailchimp appears on the Data Sources page, under _Sources,_ with a status of _Connected_. Currently, only `[Mailchimp] subscribe` and `[Mailchimp] unsubscribe` are supported.
Could I check if you have an existing audience on MailChimp? Has any user in that audience triggered the `[Mailchimp] subscribe` and `[Mailchimp] unsubscribe `event?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards, Thao

Hi @Thao Nguyen
Thanks for your prompt feedback
We do have existing audience. Subscribing and unsubscribing are triggered everyday.
Let me know whether this help identify the question of adding MailChimp as a source but end up becoming a destination.
Furthermore, we’d like to submitted a feature request of supporting the open/ click data in campaigns and journeys from MailChimp. Or is there other similar tool supporting this kind of event?
Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your response!
I will submit a ticket to our engineering team for further investigation. In the meantime, could you please provide some user IDs who have triggered the `[Mailchimp] subscribe` and `[Mailchimp] unsubscribe` events?
As for your feature request to support open/click data in campaigns and journeys from MailChimp, I'm afraid that currently, Amplitude only supports the `[Mailchimp] subscribe` and `[Mailchimp] unsubscribe` events. However, I will pass on your feedback to our product team for consideration in future updates.
For similar tools that support this kind of event, you might want to explore other marketing automation tools that have more extensive integration with Amplitude. You can find a list of our data source integrations here.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards, Thao

Hi Daniel,
Thank you for your patience!
Our Engineering team informed me that we had an issue with OAuth around the time you were trying to connect MailChimp as a source, but it has since been resolved. After logging into MailChimp, you should be redirected to a page where you can set up the source.
Because the Mailchimp source and destination share the same credentials, setting up the source will also provide a destination for the same account.
Could you please try to connect MailChimp as a source again?
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards, Thao
