Block Filter by "User ID" rather than IP.

I want to block test account users from showing up in my amplitude data.  These accounts will not always have the same IP, but will have the same account ID.  (Test account to test prod environment).  I would like to filter out the events from this device but in [Data > Filters] it only lets me block by IP address, or block all user profiles with an id field which definitely isn't what I want.

This feature seems like it should be quite easy, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it.

Hi @kaspesi

This is the current limitation of how block filters work. You can only block events using the IP or explicit event names.

Couple of approaches to remove test user data from your charts

  • Define a “non internal user segment” which filters out your test accounts and apply them as default for all your segmentation charts
  • Try to use a drop filter instead to remove events from your test accounts so that their data won’t show up in your charts.
