Managing User IDs Across Browsers and Clearing Cache in Amplitude

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an issue where Amplitude assigns two different User IDs when:

  1. I log in from different browsers.
  2. I empty the browser cache and log in again.

This causes inconsistency in user tracking and affects analytics accuracy.

Could anyone explain:

  • Why this happens in Amplitude?
  • Best practices to avoid multiple User IDs for the same user across different scenarios?
