Way to chart the time between two specific events per user?

Hello everybody!

I am writing this question to see if it is feasible to perform analysis in amplitude on the period of time between two specific events performed by individual users.

It would be great to be able to show the trends of this outlined time period between a user base

For an example: say we have two events:

  1. login event
  2. sign out event

Would it be possible to chart the time period between the latest two of these respective events for each user? For example to determine how long a typical user may remain logged in before signing out?

Thanks for any responses!

Hi @ccreaser,

There are a few different paths you can take here:

  • Do you have a Session ID instrumented?  If so, the User Sessions chart may help.  Assuming your sessions would begin and end with those ‘login’ and ‘sign out’ events you mentioned, measuring a user session overall should be able to get you the same results.
  • If you’d prefer to use these specific events to measure the amount of time between the two, you can use our Funnel chart.  Specifically, the avg time and time to convert metrics will be handy.

I hope this helps!
