Hi Amplitude team!
Can you please let me know the difference between Dashboards and Templates. Please give brief introduction of both.

Hi @aneesanwar

I’m tempted to quote the chicken and an egg problem for explaining dashboards and templates here just because of the way Amplitude has built their workflow.

Both can be created from one another depending on your use case and some caveats.

Once you have a template created with a set of preconfigured parameters, you can recreate and save new dashboards at scale on any input parameter combination.

Dashboards are more or less a static way to consuming different charts in one place with the ability to change filters and see the changes in the filters to test out some analysis. You can save this newly filtered dashboard on top of the existing one if needed, but templates just provide a faster way to use preconfigured parameters.
