Analyzing retention based on event properties

Hi all! I wanted to see if certain event properties impact retention. The event properties I’m looking to analyze are numerical values, so for instance I wanted to see whether there is a correlation between larger event property values and retention.

I tried the Compass and Personas charts, but it seems like these charts only distinguish users based on how often they perform a certain event, but not the value of an event property.

Any idea whether this is possible?

Hi @Monica

There could be two approaches to this

Let me know if I have interpreted your use case correctly. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply @Saish Redkar !

The examples you showed are useful. Do you have any suggestions on how to decide what threshold to test? For example, in your charts you used duration >= or < 2000. Can I use Amplitude to help decide whether it should be 2000, or some other numbers?

This largely depends on your product and your use case. The 2000 number was just a random one for demo purposes.
You could see how your property histogram looks like and maybe choose a sweet median number to test out this. e.g.https://analytics.amplitude.com/demo/chart/new/ks3s2jf
