I’m running an experiment where I expect the overall number of sessions to go down, but I believe those will mostly be sessions that aren’t meaningful. E.g., I want to say any sessions less than ten seconds long don’t count. Kind of like bounce rate, except my app doesn’t have the equivalent of a single page visit- that would blow way past our event budget.
Is there a way to include a metric like this in an Experiment? I know I can get it in the User Sessions chart, but I also know that I can’t use that to evaluate experiments as it will include all the data from exposed users even before they were exposed to the experiment. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hello Alexandra,
My name is Yosimy from Amplitude Support, happy to help!
While you can track session lengths and filter by session duration in the User Sessions chart, this functionality is not directly available in Amplitude's Experiment feature.
However, you can define your experiment's goals and metrics in the experiment design panel, including primary and secondary metrics. While this doesn't directly allow for filtering out sessions of a certain length, you can choose metrics that best align with meaningful user engagement in your app. For more information on defining your experiment's goals, you can refer to this help article.
As for the specific metric of excluding sessions less than a certain duration, this is currently not a built-in feature in Amplitude. If this feature is important to your use case, you might want to consider submitting a feature request via the help button at the top right corner of the UI (question mark icon) > Submit Feedback.
I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Best,
Yosimy
