We have sales people who can use a link to do things on behalf of a customer.  When they do that, their data gets merged with the real customer session.  Is there a way to say that certain people’s amplitude IDs are never merged?  It makes tracking real users really difficult.

Hello,

Thank you for writing in! My name is Audrey, and I am your Technical Support Agent here to help you.

We do not have an OOTB way to do this, but one workaround you could do if possible is set a unique User ID for the sales person when they use this link. This is because User IDs cannot be merged, so if you create a new user ID, Amplitude will only recognize this as a different user.

For more information, we have a really helpful guide on how we track unique users that I'd recommend reading through: https://amplitude.com/docs/data/sources/instrument-track-unique-users#h_c323d7e5-4662-4a36-b0a1-5110a341e80c.

I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best,
Audrey
