Identify when the first event occurs

I want to prepare a visualization for my product team in Amplitude Dashboard that shows when user created their first product grouped by customer id?

For this purpose, I am tracking say, “PRODUCT_CREATED” event which sends customer id attribute for me to group id.

That problem is I am only interested in first event for each customer id so that my product team can see how many customers have created at least one product.

Do you know how to go about creating such chart?

Hello @johngalt,

You can achieve this by using the 'Historical Count' filter in Amplitude. This filter allows you to understand the first time user engagement by looking into the first time a user performs an event.

Here's how you can do it:

1. In the event segmentation chart, select the 'PRODUCT_CREATED' event.
2. Then, apply a filter for the 'Historical Count' of that event being performed and set it to 1. This will give you the users who have performed this event for the first time.

You can read more about this in our help center article here.

After creating a chart like this, you can click into the data point to view the Microscope tool to create a Cohort as necessary.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to post any follow-up questions you have.
