I’ve tried so hard to find a clear answer to this, but I keep finding paragraphs and paragraphs of “maybe.” If I use a very basic Amplitude setup - just the JavaScript code snippet on a website, tracking user signups, using an ID for users and nothing else, do I need a GDPR cookie banner?

We are a US company, with international users.

I’m assuming you’re in Europe, so the simply answer is “yes”. Loading up Amplitude on your site will create cookies in the user’s browser, you therefore need their explicit consent to do so.

Hope helpful!

Dan.

We’re a US company but many of our users are international.

I’m not familiar with US requirements on this front, have a chat with your legal team/ DPO and I’m sure they’ll have an answer for you.

A quick Google, does seem you will need to…
