Amplitude noob here 👋 Trying to get my head around the tracking plan and how visual labelling works with it. I hoped that I could use a combination of events defined manually (data->events) and those created using the visual labelling tool and that BOTH of these would be exportable (eg from our dev project) and re-importable to a new project (eg to our production project).I’ve created test events both manually and using the visual labelling tool but the VL events don’t appear in the event export file.Am I missing something?If the VL events aren’t re-importable to the production project, do I have to re-create them manually using the VL tool on the production project?? Seems like that’s a bad idea so I’m hoping I’m missing something obvious here.All help much appreciated, thanks!

Hi,I am trying to understand the exact definition of a “New” user in amplitude.As a comparison, I understand the “Active” user is that in the defined period of time, say from June 1 - June 30, there is an user event triggered on June 2 … this user is “Active” … and if defined period is from June 5 - June 10...then the user is not “Active”…But for “New” user,  Let use the above timeline, this user triggered an event on June 2, and at the same time, the user had events in May, April or earlier dates… if i define the time period from June 1 - June 30, would Amplitude treat this user as a “New” user although there are earlier activities/events?Thanks, Bill

Hi there,We added a new user property and I was hoping that this would propagate to historical events.However, this has not occurred and this user property is still showing as `(none)` for events created before this user property was set.I was reading this somewhat related topic where @Yuanyuan Zhang notes:Once a user property is set, it will be applied to all events going forward until it gets updated. For example, you first have user property email = abc@gmail.com, all events will have this user property value. Then you send in another value today email = def@gmail.com, all events from that point onwards will have the user property value def@gmail.com. And:You can update the same user prop "email" by including "email" in the payload with the new value and specify that it will be overwritten for the user properties at the top and the new value will propagate to further events. Historical events will not get updated. Does this confirm that it is not possible to update the user properti

The amplitude docs include this note:Starting from v2.8.0 the SDK supports getting the device ID from the URL paramter ampDeviceId. The SDK configuration, for example, init('API_KEY', { deviceId: 'custom-device-id' }) still takes precedence over the URL parameter. Previous versions of the SDK supported the deviceId URL parameter, this option is still supported for backward compatibility but ampDeviceId will take precedence if both are set. You don't need to change your code if upgrade to versions higher than v2.8.0 but it is recommended. But then later on, there is also mention of the “ampSessionId” while I’m pretty sure the older version was just “sessionId”. Is there a full list somewhere of all the URL parameters that the SDK will attempt to automatically use, along with information about priority (for example I’m assuming ampSessionId would override sessionId) and support/deprecation information?For example, we do still use `sessionId` in some cases, and I’d like to confirm whether

 suppose if i buy a growth plan will i be able to create multiple projects? i am asking this because here is the situation we have free account currently  and current project setup is kind of destroyed  ( i created more that 2000 event types ) [ i was unaware of that ] now we have implemented correct way - less event types.., now my question is should i create new project to launch our newly implemented setup OR should i just delete event types and modify existing  one (wait is it possible ?) 

Im trying to get some amplitude identifier in JS (browser) to identifiy/match the current user in other systems… i've tried to use deviceId, but ```amplitude.getInstance().getDeviceId()```returns 'shared-anonymous-device'i've tried also getSessionId… that returns session that does not exists in amplitudeive checked amplitude._instancesto see if there are not more instances for some reason but no, just $default_instancewe are using amplitude wordpress pluginive tried differnet browsers, ip addresses (vpn, no vpn)… its still the same 

HiI've created a data table and used the "Group By" feature, which currently counts unique events. However, I'd like to view the actual events that contribute to each count.For example, if a certain cell shows the value 4, I want to see which 4 events are included in that number.Is there a way to do this?Thanks in advance!

I'm encountering a problem in Amplitude where anonymous user data isn't being automatically merged with their userId upon login. My application consists of two independently functioning parts that share the same domain.Here's the user flow and what's happening: Initial Visit (/home): The user lands on the main page, navigates, and adds items to their cart. At this point, the userId is not yet assigned, but a deviceId exists. Login/User ID Assignment (/checkout): The user proceeds to the cart, which is part of a second application on the same domain. Here, the user receives a userId, and the deviceId remains the same. Amplitude Discrepancy: When I check Amplitude's user proifiles tab, the anonymous user profile and the identified user profile are not being merged This results in fragmented user journeys, making it difficult to analyze the full user experience from initial anonymous interaction to authenticated activity.

Hi, I wanted to create a proxy but I am stuck. Hi, we’ve recently found that we receive a 500 Error when trying to update a user property using the Identify API. Although it doesn't happen frequently, we want to clarify if this is a chronic issue in the tracking industry or a stability issue with Amplitude’s server. Have a nice day! 

im really confused. I have the user profiles setup to show me a few metrics about each user like their uid and the session id. now every few minutes, the number of metrics i see reduces. I had 130 sign ups today and then now i can only see the latest 50?

Hello all, Part of our product involves a Chrome extension that uses the extension platform’s native sidepanel functionality. Have any others had luck implementing Session Replay with a sidepanel or with a Chrome extension in general? We’re trying to implement with the Session Replay Browser SDK; we see sessionReplay.init(...) happening, but no recordings coming through to Amplitude and no errors anywhere. Thanks,Allen

Hi,what is the best way to install session replay feature when using GTM?Tried custom html option (it gives me error on const because feature is only supported for ECMASCRIPT 2015 onwards), changed const to VAR and it loads, but nothing is visible inside Amplitude (added initialization tag to load before this html). What did I miss to make this work? 

using amplitude plus plan one can create 5 custom cohorts, here all 5 are default cohorts not able to create custom cohort. is there any way to archive or delete the default cohorts. 

We want to send a status code as event prop back (it'll be a number between 1 to 6). Since it comes as json, dev team is asking to set the type of the prop to any. Will this cause any problems down the line in analytics?

Hi,I have a file_saved event for the application I am working on, and the event has a unique_ID property and a file_size property. Unfortunately, I’m running into the issue where users like to save the same file over and over again, so any calculation of average file_size gets skewed by users who save the most.The overall property average in Amplitude is something like 2.1MB, but when I calculated the average size for each individual file, then took an average of that, I got closer to 5.5MB. To me, this seems like a large disparity.Is there some formula equivalent to Average file_size (Average file_size for each unique_ID, Event A) or something similar?Is there any other way to prevent users spamming events from skewing the data, or is there a different approach to this problem entirely?Any help would be much appreciated!Thanks,Greg

Hi Amplitude Team,We’re currently using the Amplitude Scholarship Plan, but we’ve been notified that it will soon expire.We have a quick question regarding the Starter Plan:We noticed that the Starter Plan allows for up to 2 projects, but we are currently using 4.In this case, what happens to the additional 2 projects?Are they deleted or simply blocked/archived?Also, if we decide to upgrade to a higher plan later on, will it be possible to restore or access those projects again?Thanks in advance for your support!Best regards,
