Hi all,

 

I’m looking for some best practice to track screen views. My goal is to create a funnel to understand how many people begin the onboarding on ScreenA and finish it to ScreenE, the drop off rate, and things like this.

 

Should I simply log a “screen_view” event and then add some property like “name → ScreenA”?
Would I be able to filter events using that property then?

Having a one-size fits all “screen view” event coupled with properties you suggest will work…but do consider an alternative that you could instead have unique events for different families of screen (e.g. a retailer might have “view onboarding”, “view product list”, “view product”, etc, all coupled with appropriate event properties). The approach to take depends on your wants/ needs, this event naming convention type of question has come up previously so these might help you further:
