Using Amplitude

Hi, I used to be able to expand the 'Device ID' property on a user and click directly to any linked user profiles that shared the same Device ID as the current user.This was really helpful for customer support purposes since oftentimes our users would create multiple accounts on different devices, and I would be able to quickly identify all of a user's accounts at once.Recently, the linking stopped working, and I now have to copy/paste each device ID and perform a manual search.Is there a setting where I can turn this back on, or is it possible to re-instate this feature?

Hi,I have events that are sent from the browser and from the backend (Amplitude API)I have a situation where in the users stream of events, the events are not ordered in the correct order in the Amplitude User Lookup stream. Here is the event order. (times are the same or very close for `client_event_time`, `client_upload_time`, `server_received_time`, `server_upload_time`)Order of events in the user stream (top latest to oldest)- Event 1 (time: "2023-05-14 12:59:42.696000) - Server- Event 3 (time: "2023-05-14 13:00:38.992000) - Client- Event 2 (time: "2023-05-14 12:59:49.522000) - ClientEvent order (base on time) should be - Event 3 - Event 2 - Event 1 How can I fix this. When viewing a user’s profile, I used to be able to view other userIDs related to the userID I was viewing. This helped me locate other user profiles created by the same user/device.It looks like this functionality has disappeared and the only way to view related userIDs is by searching by their deviceID on Amplitude. Is there a quicker way or has the feature moved somewhere else?

I noticed a trend recently that we get all sorts of events from users on Android and iOS devices, and we get the Device Type for almost everyone. But for some reason we haven’t logged a single iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 as a device type.I ran some tests on my device and can confirm that these events go through on an iPhone 13. I even confirmed that the event carries “device_model":"iPhone 13"”. However when I look up that same event in the Amplitude dashboard, it has a blank for Device Type. I ran the exact same experiment using an iPhone 11. It has “device_model":"iPhone 11"” in the event. On the Amplitude dashboard, it has “iPhone 11” for Device Type. Does anyone know why this is? It doesn’t appear to be a problem with the amplitude SDK, but rather one with the backend/dashboard. Maybe I’m missing something?

Hi, I’m trying to setup an NPS survey top run across my paid customer base. This includes 9 languages and roughly 15K paid accounts. I’m struggling a bit with the Trigger and Limit settings as they’re not working as I expected based on the descriptions. In a perfect world I’d want the nps survey to pop up a few times a month if they’re dismissing it but if they complete it I’d like it to pause or snooze for 90 days.Does anyone have an NPS setup that’s working great for them? or had similar issues with understanding triggers and limits?

There is a problem with building a project .The package version is as follows - “@amplitude/analytics-browser”: “^2.9.3”.  We are using next.js (app router)During the project build the following error appears because of which we can't build the project - Amplitude Logger [Error]: Failed to set cookie for key: AMP_TEST. Error: Cannot set properties of undefined (setting 'cookie')Can anyone help solve this problem?

Hi, I have a question about the “New User” event. Essentially, I would expect this event only get fired/recorded once for each unique user?However, I am seeing there are users who performed/recorded the “New User” event more than once. This does not seem to make sense for me.I did some researches on the documentation/discussion on “New users”  and I think the most relevant discussion would be the link below but I did not find it very helpful, some additional help would be nice. Thanks!  

How do I transfer data from one amplitude account to another? It seems all the community chats about this have completely broken links. Easy to export, no way to import, very frustrating. :(  

Hi Amplitude Community, Amplitude considers different organizations to be separate entities, and so there isn't any out-of-the-box way to 'transfer' data from one entity to another (with a click of a button), unfortunately. However, it is possible for you to: 1) export all data from the desired Projects via Export API or any data warehouse connections2) complete a self backfill into your new Project in the desired Organization, or import data from your data warehouse into your new Project Please note that the backfilled data will be counted towards your org’s event volume limit. At this point in time, this transfer only applies to raw data, not to any content (e.g. charts, dashboards). Another way would be to use our migration service: Our Amplitude Professional Services team can run this process to ensure the migration of your existing data and content is successfully executed. This is a paid service and additional fees may be required. Contact your Account Manager should you wish to

When using @amplitude/plugin-web-vitals-browser with Create React App v4 (react-scripts@4.0.3), the build fails with: ./node_modules/@amplitude/plugin-web-vitals-browser/node_modules/web-vitals/dist/web-vitals.jsSyntaxError: /app/node_modules/@amplitude/plugin-web-vitals-browser/node_modules/web-vitals/dist/web-vitals.js: Missing class properties transform. This happens because CRA v4’s Babel config doesn’t support class fields syntax, which web-vitals (an amplitude dependency) uses.Upgrading to react-scripts@5 fixes the issue, but it introduced conflicts with dotenv in my setup. I had to uninstall dotenv to proceed.It would help if the package were transpiled for CRA v4 compatibility, or if documentation clearly stated that CRA v5+ is required.

Hello,I'm using SpringBoot and Kotlin to integrate with the Amplitude Export API.The official Amplitude documentation (https://amplitude.com/docs/apis/analytics/export) states that "data is available to export at a minimum within 2 hours of when the servers received it." However, there's no clear information about the maximum possible delay.Does anyone know what the maximum data delay for the Amplitude Export API might be? This information is critical for us to ensure a stable integration without any data loss.Thank you.

I have noticed the timeframe selector design has changed recently and just want to express my frustration. It’s quite cumbersome now and worked perfectly fine before. Changing the timezone is difficult, changing time frames is difficult. What was the purpose of this change? I fail to see any improvement here, but am experiencing a much less user friendly UI. 

My company just went through an acquisition/carve out and we need to import data from the current amplitude instance to a fresh one. The challenge I’m running into is how to handle the crazy amount of data. The json exports are far larger than the 20mb upload limits, and each month is hundreds of mb. We need to backfill a year of data. Has anyone reliably figured this out or have any tips? I would love if Amplitude could provide more assistance than just the data import articles.

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well! We implemented Amplitude about three months ago, and since the start, we’ve noticed some discrepancies between the data we track in our database and what we see in Amplitude, particularly in the number of unique user accesses. The gap has reduced, but we’re still seeing differences, not only in the number of accesses but also in the total number of users.  Does anyone have ideas on what might be causing this? Or suggestions on what we should track/check to better align the data? Thanks in advance!

There are different sources from which you can import data. If you have data stored in a warehouse, we have some converters where you can map out the events with actions tracked on your side. For example, if the import is from Google Cloud, you will have guidance from within Amplitude when you start setting up Google Cloud storage import. For some reason, only iOS events are being added to Amplitude. I am using Expo to build my React Native project so everything should be the exact same between iOS and Android but only iOS events are coming in. I have recent builds on two phones and am using them simultaneously and only seeing iOS events coming in. Is there something special I will need to do perhaps in my app.config.js file to enable Amplitude for Android that I missed? Or a way I can debug what could be causing the issue?

Hi,I’m trying to create a chart in Amplitude using the Page Viewed: Cart event, measured as Uniques, over the past 7 days. However, I keep getting this error on the graph:"An error occurred while loading your data. (400 status code)"Other events seem to load fine, so it looks specific to this event or configuration.Has anyone encountered this before? Could it be related to event properties, filters, or data volume?Thanks in advance! 

Amplitude noob here 👋 Trying to get my head around the tracking plan and how visual labelling works with it. I hoped that I could use a combination of events defined manually (data->events) and those created using the visual labelling tool and that BOTH of these would be exportable (eg from our dev project) and re-importable to a new project (eg to our production project).I’ve created test events both manually and using the visual labelling tool but the VL events don’t appear in the event export file.Am I missing something?If the VL events aren’t re-importable to the production project, do I have to re-create them manually using the VL tool on the production project?? Seems like that’s a bad idea so I’m hoping I’m missing something obvious here.All help much appreciated, thanks!

Hi,I am trying to understand the exact definition of a “New” user in amplitude.As a comparison, I understand the “Active” user is that in the defined period of time, say from June 1 - June 30, there is an user event triggered on June 2 … this user is “Active” … and if defined period is from June 5 - June 10...then the user is not “Active”…But for “New” user,  Let use the above timeline, this user triggered an event on June 2, and at the same time, the user had events in May, April or earlier dates… if i define the time period from June 1 - June 30, would Amplitude treat this user as a “New” user although there are earlier activities/events?Thanks, Bill

Hi there,We added a new user property and I was hoping that this would propagate to historical events.However, this has not occurred and this user property is still showing as `(none)` for events created before this user property was set.I was reading this somewhat related topic where @Yuanyuan Zhang notes:Once a user property is set, it will be applied to all events going forward until it gets updated. For example, you first have user property email = abc@gmail.com, all events will have this user property value. Then you send in another value today email = def@gmail.com, all events from that point onwards will have the user property value def@gmail.com. And:You can update the same user prop "email" by including "email" in the payload with the new value and specify that it will be overwritten for the user properties at the top and the new value will propagate to further events. If you receive revenue in different currencies, then we recommend normalizing to a single currency before you send us revenue data. Amplitude logs the exact revenue value sent to us and treats it as a numerical value (not a currency value). By default, the currency sign we display in the dashboard is the dollar sign, "$".You can change this display under Organizational settings > Projects > Currency Display.
