Hi Amplitude community,

Currently we are using [HTTP V2 API] to send data to Amplitude, which we automatically get device IP which automatically also translated into Country and City.

For user privacy reason, I wonder is it possible to stop IP Geo-tagging at Country level (so we won’t get the City information)?

Thanks!

Hey @Lau

If the IP address isn’t important for your analysis in Amplitude, you can choose to not send the IP address while using the HTTP API. This means you no longer will see the country and city values.

But looks like you want the IP and the Country, but not the City.

Based on this doc, Amplitude can drop the location and IP address from events after they reach Amplitude servers. You will have to contact the Support team to configure this.

Hope this helps.

As always, Thanks for the direction Saish!

When we do this, I will try to update this ticket to confirm it.

Cheers
