Using Amplitude

I need a way to be able to tell the difference in Amplitude between when an event property’s value is an empty array/list “[]” vs. when the event did not receive a value for that event property at all. Doing the usual = (none) or set is (none) doesn’t work at telling them apart. I think I can use the glob match function but I’m struggling to figure out what the correct syntax would be since the square brackets are used as part of the glob match language. How do I escape them and write a glob match string that resolves to []? Basically, can I create a chart that can capture the difference between the events in the 2 screenshots below (specifically for the user property called “updates.EOC”)? Event where the property’s value is an empty array Event without the property at all Thanks in advance!

Hello!Using our product, the user always has to create a form and work in this form for the entire user flow. A user can have multiple forms, e.g. projects.I would like to give this form a form_id (3456) and then have defined events, like an excel export within this form. The event has properties like excel_export_price and excel_export_price_automatically_chosen.However, I only care about the last event properties of the excel export of the form of the user. Is there a way I can select the information from the event properties of the last performed event within that form_id?For my analysis, I then want to compare the composition of prices and automatically chosen prices across all my users, on their last excel export.So far, I could only find the historical events in the amplitude help center, this does not really help me, as user can export the Excel as many times as they want to.Also if there is already a way of selecting the last event using Segment.io, this could be interesting to

Hi,I’ve been spending some time in Amplitude’s “Retention Analysis” recently, and we’ve had some great insights! Though am a little confused on the best way to segment users based on events.E.g. Say I have is a music player app (like Spotify), I can create a starting / return event of “Played song”.Then I want to see if users who loaded the “Viewed top 40 hits” are more retained or less than baseline.  I would then go to the “...performed by User” section (on the right) pick users “who performed” “Viewed top 40 hits”, which will create a new segment that I can compare.This makes sense, though I’m confused how the different “any time” dropdowns work e.g.If I pick “during last 30 days” (the default), does that mean in the breakdown, any week AFTER 30 days will only contain users who viewed the top 40 hits in the last 30 days?  This doesn’t seem like a good metric so perhaps using “within” makes more sense - so we can get a better understanding of users in the past and not just users who

We are a young start-up and have never given much thought to what we track in a meaningful way. So when in doubt, we used to track a lot. This helps us now to improve our product step by step. But we are still a long way from turning it into a profitable business. We have already exceeded the event limit a few times and today we received a letter from an Amplitude employee stating that we have been marked on a deletion list. If we don't upgrade, our account could be deleted. I always thought that only the access to the portal is temporarily blocked. Have any of you had this before?Do we really have to fear that our account will be deleted now?We just can't afford to upgrade yet. Best,Christoph

Hi!I am struggling to understand why the Funnel Analysis is showing different numbers in the chart or if you look at the ‘show user paths’ in the same chart. I’ve attached two screenshots highlighting the different numbers. I don’t understand how ‘Any active Event’ → ‘view front page’ can show 37 290 (12.1%) in the chart, while ‘Start Session’ (a part of ‘Any Active Event’) → ‘view front page’ show 124 744 (40%)?Best regards,Daniel

Hi everyone! I performed a weekly retention analysis (unbounded retention) based on Starting Event: Account Verified (user is assigned a known User ID) Return Event: Any Event  Now what I see is that older cohorts (we only launched the app on May 27th) show much better W1, W2, W3 etc. retention rates than the younger ones (especially with the cohort at the end of July there’s a big drop). What could be the reason? Is ‘any event’ a good return event at all, as it also includes end_session ?    Unbounded weekly retention by cohorts  Thanks in advance! Asja

Hello, I’m struggling with a retention chart over a cohort that uses “any time within x days” filter. I’m trying to understand how frequent a user should perform a specific action (AddToWishList) in order to be retain as a user on the platform. Hello, I’m trying to do an analysis on one event. For example, Add Item to Card and Group By ‘Age’.The issue I’m having is that I have a lot of Age values from 18 to 60 so something around 42 unique values. Which makes the analysis very hard.Is there a way to group the values by buckets for example 18-25 25-35 35-45 … ? So the analysis would be easier ?   Thanks a lot, Matthias

Hello!I am new to Amplitude, and I am attempting to integrate Amplitude with my VR app. At the conclusion of the VR experience, data about the user’s experience is compiled into an event with about 30 or so event properties (each event property is a datapoint generated by the user’s experience).For the date range of my choice, I need to compile and export (as a CSV) all instances of this specific event, along with all event properties, so that I can analyze aggregate results from the VR experience in Excel.How can I accomplish this?

Basically, I am trying to keep track of the top active users in my product. I want to know the top 5% of active users in any given week and I haven’t figured out a good way to do this in Amplitude. Anybody have ideas/tips to point me in the right direction?

I’m wondering if there’s a way of achieving this : I have an event with a property that I need to SUM. I can do that with PROPSUM(A) without problem. The thing is that I need to add a cap to that SUM (maximum amount).I would need something like MAX(PROPSUM(A),cap), where I could get : The value of PROPSUM(A) if PROPSUM(A) < cap The value of cap if PROPSUM(A) > capI have tried to achieve this in many ways but I can’t find a proper way to do it. Thanks a lot for the help !

Hi Everyone, I am looking for a way to see a list of User IDs for a specific segment. I’ve been able to find a segment of our users who are super sticky (90% retention on D7) and I’d love to explore the users, understand what they did in their first session etc etc. How do I get the list of users from that segment? 

Hi everyone !We’re trying to find the average time between sessions ie After how long does a user come back to the platform.I know this sounds just like retention but we don’t want that because from what I understood , and correct me if I’m wrong, the retention analysis tells that for all users who did event A on Day 0 , how many did event B on Day N .We’re just looking for time difference from when people log out (end session) and then log in (start session) and if possible per day.Would you recommend any of the following options : 1. Seeing the Time to Convert in a Funnel with first event as End Session & second event as Start Session2. N-Bound Retention analysis with the same event orderHope to hear back from the community !

In our Web App we use Segment’s Page call to track page events.We can select the event in Amplitude but there is no event traffic coming through.These are our Segment settings:and in Amplitude: 

Hello,I’m trying to create user Cohorts for user’s who are Subscribers, Churned Subscribers, in a Free Trial, churched Free Trial users, ect.Due to constraints from Apple’s subscription service, this can only be accomplished by analyzing the `expiration_at` property of these events. These events are sent from Apple to our subscription management platform (RevenueCat) via web hook. RevenueCat then sends these events to Amplitude via web hook. For example, A Free Trial user would have to be inferred by the trial_started event whose expiration_at date is in the future.  I can’t find a way to filter an event by a relative date, i.e. “trial_started where expiration_at in the next week). It looks like amplitude allows me to filer by expiration_at but only by the specified values. I’ve attached a screenshot of how it’s down in MixPanel

Our project use HTML shown on a webview inside our app (android/IOS). Whe want to use amplitude to capture clicks on screen, but it doesn’t work! Is this possible? There is a way to implement?We are using the JS SDK for this implementation, the android/IOS sdk implementation is just a second choice in this moment.

Hello everyone,I am new to to Amplitude and I am trying to find a way to find What % of users in a segment, perform the action “X” at least once per week in the last year.Any suggestions how to do it? Thanks in advance!

We have a strange thing going on with some of our boolean values. When I look up the event property in Amplitude, it shows values that are uppercase (True/False) as well as other values are lowercase (true/false). We have 3 clients -- iOS, Android, and Web. The iOS one is sending mostly lowercase values, while Android and Web tend to show uppercase values.Event properties have clear cut behavior -- Android/Web is purely uppercase boolean, iOS is purely lowercase. However with User Properties, it seems cross-platform behavior will make some bleed between these rules, although the overarching trend is the same -- Android/Web is upper, iOS is lower.I can’t quite believe this is our doing. Android and Web both use languages that are, by default, lowercase booleans. So there would be no reason for us to change the value sent to Amplitude. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Anything we can do about it?

Hi! I’m new at using amplitude and I’m struggling to understand the relation between stickiness and retention. I have set up a cohort with users that have a strong usage for a specific event (“AddToWishList” event), +5 events during july 2021, and at least one event (“AddToWishList” event) during august 2021. Then I plot a daily retention chart during the period of august 2021 for the same starting event and return event, i.e. “AddToWishList”. Our daily retention is over 40% for the entire period as the figure shows. So far so good. Then I plot the stickiness chart for the same event and time period and cohort. The below chart shows that 18% of users from the segment have emit the event only once and only a few users really “sticked” with the event. Given a +40% of retention for a given cohort, I would have expected a higher stickiness for the same event. This said, I expect users to have used at least 15 days during the same evaluation month. Given the above information, what should b

How do I duplicate a chart?The copy icon mentioned here (https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/231999267-Create-Save-Charts#copy) is almost never available (see attached screenshot). Is this a bug? Do we have to pay extra to be able to duplicate charts? Best,Daniel

What values will appear under the Platform user property? It seems like when I use the JS SDK, the Platform will always be Web. 

I want to concatenate two properties with a “/” in the middle. When I try using CONCAT(property-1,property-2), it works fine. However, when I try using CONCAT(property-1,”/”,property-2), it doesn’t work. Could soemone let me know what is the issue here?  Thanks a lot!
