Breaking down a retention event

I have a North Star metric and I want to understand how many times a user performs this event and create a breakdown of the number of times until they retain or become sticky. 

For example: creating a note

No of times.   Retention

1 time	3%
2 times	5%
3 times	10%
4 times	20%
5 times	30%

You are able to define user segments in a Retention chart using the condition “who performed...”. Please see the example chart using demo: https://analytics.amplitude.com/demo/chart/new/gml8i8a. Please note that the user segment conditions only apply to the starting event. 

If your org has access to cohorts, you can also make a few cohorts for users who performed the “creating a note” event 1 time, 2 times, 3 times…. You can easily find out the frequency of an event being fired during a certain time rage by using this example chart: https://analytics.amplitude.com/demo/chart/new/2i51alt. Then you can create a cohort for each frequency using Microscope. I made this example cohort “Users performing 'Play Song or Video' 5 times last 30 days”. You can then apply this cohort to a Retention chart: https://analytics.amplitude.com/demo/chart/new/blwxv6u.
