I would like to implement a reliable way of filtering out events from our internal users.I am familiar with the FAQ on blocking / filtering internal users here https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016338212-FAQ-How-to-Block-and-Filter-out-Internal-Users, and previous discussions such as https://community.amplitude.com/building-and-sharing-your-analysis-58/creating-a-behavioral-cohort-via-api-163.I would like to use a Behavioural Cohort for this rather than a saved segment as I understand that saved segments do not automatically update charts when the segment itself is updated (https://community.amplitude.com/instrumentation-and-data-management-57/how-to-update-charts-upon-saved-segments-update-125)Our internal users use many devices and browsers, often use incognito type modes on browsers, login to our application with multiple accounts, and mostly work remotely. I didn’t see any existing topics related to this, so I wanted to start a convo around how others are integrating Optimizely with Amplitude.  Our current integration is as follows: When Optimizely detects a new user qualifies for an experiment, determines the variation to bucket them into, and then effectively enters said user into the experiment under the chosen variation, an event is pushed to the datalayer with the experiment name and variation. We then send this information to Amplitude as a user property. This is pretty similar to the Amplitude support documentation on integrating the two platforms. We built our custom integration before this documentation was released.  One interesting thing I’ve been seeing is that accordingly to Amplitude, some users are being grouped into different variations within the same experiment. I’ve ruled out merged profiles as a reason for this finding, so I’m thinking this has to be an issue on Optimizely’s end and I’m working with their support team

Hello, We have a microservice application, with each micro service sending events to Amplitude. All events will have a device_id, and some events will have both a device_id and a user_id in their JSON.Let say we send 20 events to Amplitude. 10 of them have both an user_id and a device_id. 10 of them only have a device_id.Will Amplitude automatically assign the missing user_id to events that didn’t have it? Or do we have to manage something by ourselves on Amplitude? Thanks a lot and have a great weekend. 

Hello everyone,I’m pretty new to Amplitude and not very experienced with regular expressions, hoping for some help with my formula please.Background:  We operate overlay or banner ads on our website and, in this case, when a user clicks on one of these call to action buttons we pass a utm_content parameter which contains “yield” in the query string of the destination URL.I have something incorrect, a combination of a incorrect regular expression for “Contains” using REGEXEXTRACT, and/or my logic is incorrect with the statement.Here’s the Formula I currently have:IF(    REGEXEXTRACT(utm_content, "/yield") == "yield",        'true',        'false'    )When I create this Derived Property and select it, I only receive “false” as a filter option - so the function is incorrect and never resolves as true. Now, if I use a straight utm_content property then I can see all the campaigns where this occurs: Many thanks!

Hi I would like to know how to exclude certain users.As we’ve launched our new app recently,we think that some data can be biased as we collect our data from test phones and our phones. And we thought that it would be better to exclude the internal data from the dataFirst, we have done certain actions in our personal app to fire certain event to know his or her user ID and amplitude ID in the user lookupthen we tried to exclude this ID from the chart as below chart https://analytics.amplitude.com/Dreamfora0205/chart/new/ykt3vmk However it didn’t change any data. seems like the user were not excluded by doing this.If there’s any other way to successfully exclude internal user from deluting some data,can you please let me know? Also, if this can be done in govern section, rather than doing it in every chart that I am making, that would be even better. thankswith best regards, Flor Cho

We have two apps on different platforms reporting different event properties.Android: reports a number as an event propertyiOS: reports a string which is the “Number Unit” and not just a numberBecause of this, we can’t get a property sum for iOS.We can fix our tracking code for future events, but we need to be able to fix our past events.I didn’t see anyway to perform any string conversions of any sort, but how can we do this?

We’ve got a funnel of events that can be completed by multiple users, but they would all have a common “company” property. Is it possible to hold an event property constant across a funnel rather than the user id? Our current funnel drops any company who progresses across multiple users.

On Android, I decided to reset my app in a clean state by clearing all app data (through OS menu).When I started the app again, Amplitude still logged events under the same user.How is that possible and shouldn’t it be a totally new user from Amplitude perspective? Edit: same behavior when reinstalling 

We offer annual and monthly subscriptions. We have Subscription Added and Subscription Edited events coming from Stripe through Segment.  I’m thinking we’ll want to know the subscription type (annual or monthly) on those events, so those events would have a “subscription type” property.I’m also thinking that the user and account will also benefit from having a similar property for subscription type.Sound right?Are there other properties that should be tied to those those track events or set on the user and accounts?

We have created two project one for testing and one for Live Environment.We implemented it last week only and sometimes Live Environment data is going in testing project by itself and the next day its coming in Live project.We checked the key, there is no problem with respect to that, since Testing and Live environment has different keys.

​We work on a similar concept as Shopify, except for the Market Place concept, the Merchant brings the audience (called consumers from here on) to the platform and they are the one who make the purchase, choose among options available and sometime just drop off without actually availing the service. We however want to track data at a merchant level as they are our real drivers. I can still track individual merchant using custom filters in initial steps.However i want to track things like the most in demand merchant, merchants who are getting repeat orders/have repeat customers., average number of products they have on platform, average revenue per merchantCould you suggest how to go about that either with consumer level recording and modifying report configuration in Amplitude or altogether fresh implementation in Amplitude from scratch to track data at Merchant level ​

Hi, We’ve set up Amplitude for our Mobile App and are using Branch as our MMP.We’ve run into a situation where we are unable to segment users based on campaign name on Amplitude. This situation is only happening with users acquired via Facebook campaigns.We can see these users in Branch, however are unable to see them on Amplitude. Is anyone else running into the same issue? is there a way around this? Thank you

Hi, Denis !!I found that the name of an event was wrong, and we changed it back to the correct name. However, we cannot change the name of the event previously sent to amplitude. Is there any way you can help us change it. best!@Denis Holmes  

We have enabled the ability for users to press certain keys to open up certain elements/modals on our website.Are we able to track if a user a pressed these keyboard shortcuts on browser? 

Has anyone used a custom webhook to send Invoca events to Amplitude? I’m trying to track calls and telesales and not sure if that’s possible with Amplitude. I’m thinking I just need to have my dev team send the device_id to Invoca to make it happen. 

How can I bulk update existing events with a newly created user property?We created a new user property and would like to set a value for this property for all existing events created before the new property was created. More specifically: we’ve had one domain “de” and are expanding to two new domains (fr, nl) so we introduced a new user property “domain” which will be set to the respective domain for each event. For all events created before the new user property was created, the domain value is (naturally) ‘none’ right now. We’d like to change that and set all of them to “de”.  

I'm trying to use the okta api. I was able to use the api to create an authorization server and access policy with my okta domain. 

values are sent as a list Hi! I’m passing a list of values for an event property. Is there a “correct” way to parse these strings and analyze them individually rather than as a list? For example [“backpacking”, “camping”] => two entries, one for backpacking & one for camping. Thanks, Matt

Hi,I’m struggling to understand what’s the best setup for identifying users combining client (front-end) and back-end events and I’m starting to think that it’s not possible at all.Here’s the setup we have, at the moment:We use Segment to send send client events - we have 1 app that sends events on the front-end We also use Segment to send events on the back-end. We pass User ID through signup back-end event, as well as login event.Essentially, we have 2 Segment Amplitude destinations one receiving client events and the other back-end events, all working for the same website and set of users.So I have the following scenario:User enters website and performs front-end events User signs up within the same session through a back-end event.In that scenario the front-end and back-end events are connected with the same user - different Device IDs but same Ampitude ID (let’s say 123)Then, the same user starts a new session from a new browser (i.e., new cookie)They perform front-end events - a

I have a funnel chart with two segments:​​​​​​Country = US Country != USMy intuition was that these would be mutually exclusive - a user can only be in one country. However, there are some users who are in both of these segments.I looked at one such user who was in both the US and non-US segments. Their user profile said they were in Australia. Most of their events were from Australia, but some of them were flagged as United States. These US events were server-sent events. In the server side case, we don’t have the user’s IP address.My guess is that Amplitude is inferring the country from our datacentre server’s IP, which is in the US.This muddles up my analysis :( Is it possible to somehow suppress it, or use the user’s most recent country value, or most frequent country?

Hello, is it possible to download the IDs of new signups via the API?What I am trying to obtain is essentially:date1: [id1_1, id1_2, id1_3, ...],date2: [id2_1, id2_2, id2_3, ...]I’ve created a dynamic cohort that tracks the new signups, the Population Over Time graph below is essentially what I need but the `Export CSV` button only downloads the latest date. The Cohort API also doesn’t allow you to specify a time window so I am not sure how to proceed.The same results can be obtained by creating a Segmentation graph and plotting the Sign-up event but there I need to click on every date and download the users manually.Is there a quick way of downloading what I need via the API?

Hi, I am trying to analyze if an event is triggered by an user during his entire life time inside our app, dividing that number by the total amount of users who performed a specific event at least once.For example, users who liked a photo at least once since they have installed the app, divided by the total amount of users who performed an event to open a photo - In short, check how many users who are truly interacting with the feature (opening a photo) are giving a like on it.I heard I can use ROLLWIN for that, my current formula is "UNIQUES(A)/UNIQUES(B)", where A = users who liked a photo at least once, and B = users who opened a photo. I want to measure that, but using events analyzed from the entire lifetime of the user.How do I do that? Best.Nicolas
