Hey, In our web app, we trigger a sign-up event the moment a new user signs up. After they sign-up, the user’s properties may get updated as they continue on in our app, for example by filling in their profile information according to what job role they do, which calls a user property update to add these details into amplitude.  I want to create a chart that groups sign-ups by job role (which is only updated after the sign-up event is sent). Is this possible? Our charts can’t seem to do this group by. Everyone’s property is set to (none)—I’m assuming because the property update is only after the event. Any solutions?

I have a user property called free_trial_group which has 3 possible values (7_days, 30_days and none) and I used it for compositioning: Also I have photos_count user property which I used for segments:  The problem is that values in the resulting pie chart and downloaded users of one of the segments don’t match even though I use most recent value.For exampleI’m downloading those users who have 0 photos_count and are in 7_days free_trial_group:It’s the photos_count column: As you see, almost none of the really has 0 photos_count.Why? Am I doing smth wrong?

Hi I would like to get the event category dumped into my GCP,  where and how should I set this up ? 

I send data with GTM and the new Template "Amplitude Analytics Browser SDK", and it works. I see the events as a unknown source.I tried to create it as a source by using the “Google Tag Manager” option but it is stalled at listening for the events coming.I the tried the “Browser SDK” source, but the events send are not automatic detected. I also tried to create a HTTP API source, but with same result.The events i send will not associate them self with the source. How do I ensure that the event form this specific GTM container using the Amplitude Analytics Browser SDK template are recognized as a source, and what source type should I use ? I know i can add a property like “data_source=GTM-W639JT” to all events, but was under the assumption that Sources was to be used for this purpose. 

My understanding is that if we used the Browser SDK along with the Marketing Analytics SDK, we would get attribution tracking (e.g. UTM params) and the ability to turn on automatic pageview events.However, given discussion in my other question and the benefit of more specific events in amplitude reports, we are implementing custom events for each page view in our site and thus disabling automatic pageview events in the Marketing Analytics SDK.  All good so far.Our custom events are making it through to our development project in Amplitdue but but I’m surprised to see that there are properties missing that I expect to be there like page_path, page_domain which you do get on the automatic generic pageviews if we left that feature on.I then looked at custom events for click tracking we are doing on some buttons and see that they are also missing context of domain and path.No web analytics platform I’m aware of fails to add these properties automatically (which I’d consider essential). Hi, a team member asked me about tracking scroll events using Amplitude. What is the best practice on capturing events when a user scrolls to a certain part of the page? Let’s say we wanted to have insights into whether users even scroll to the end of a page.Do you think we should do that with Amplitude and what would be the best practice? Thank you Best regards

Hi! I saw that for some SKD is possible to have a dry run. I run my application in different environments and I don’t want to send events to amplitude from all those environments or from a local run or from integrations test.  How can I achieve that in java? Thanks!

Hi all, Newbe here. As far as I understand, Amplitude does not report automatically on web landing pages so trying to find a way to identify them.This is the rationale that makes sense to me:Amplitude init / loads Before sending a page_view event, check if we have previously saved the session ID in browser's local storage. if not, it is a new sessions so we flag the page_view as landing and store session ID from amplitude.getSessionId(); so the next page_view is not identified as such.Does anyone implemented something similar with good results?Thanks in advance.

Hi team,Our application Wonder is working on ecommerce payment solution now, we find out some problem with tracking the trigger points in amplitude during working on the funnel of registration process. Based on our operation, the registration process consists of 6 steps, that is start of signup, receiving SMS code of phone, SMS code of email, verification of ID card, selfie verification and finally sign in.In the process of verifying ID card and face, we found out that we failed to track these two events when entering my device id to track in amplitude, which can be shown below. What confuses us is that the event can be recorded in the data tab and also the local log of the flutter frontend, but failed only in tracking my own phone. Secondly, when I tracked my own phone, I found out that my device id changed every time I logged in our application, is there any chance we can fix this id up to the device of the user?Last but not least, there’s a gap between the event volume and the numbe

Hi Amplitude community, Currently we are using [HTTP V2 API] to send data to Amplitude, which we automatically get device IP which automatically also translated into Country and City. For user privacy reason, I wonder is it possible to stop IP Geo-tagging at Country level (so we won’t get the City information)? Thanks!

Steps to reproduce :A user property named:“Has a GPay something”It will generate:hasAgPaySomething: Boolean? = null,as parameter, but will try to use:*(if (hasAGPaySomething != null)and therefore it doesn’t compile.It can be reproduced using Android and iOS SDKs.Is it the good place to report such issue? 

Looks like this feature is in beta but several folks have been able to figure it out. Would love advice - we’d love to put in historical data so we that we don’t lose any of the information before we connected our codebase to Amplitude. Thanks so much.

Hi,I often export data from Export API and recently I’ve noticed that there are all null values in user_creation_time column.I tried to export data from several projects and in different ways and the result is the same. Data collection seems to be working fine as usual.So I believe there is some problem with the API.Does anybody have any information regarding this issue?  Thank you

In our specific use case we want to filter our graphs based on a custom user_property called “Department” and “Job title”. We have just used the HTTP V2 API to enrich our user information in Amplitude with that information. However, when we set up the graph it only shows from the date we added the new information. We want to be able to show a graph that displays weekly active users over time for all users who have the property “Department: Accounting”. How can we solve this?

Once you installed Amplitude within your product, the best way to validate if your set up is correct is to send test events to the platform! Data validation is a critical step of ensuring that Amplitude is capturing your expected information.First, you should always create a Test environment for each project in order to test your instrumentation. You can easily do this when you set up your first Project and use the toggle “Use Multiple Environments”. This will allow you to create a multiple environments (including a test one) and link them together across one Tracking Plan. We also recommend using the following tools to help debug and validate your event data:Ingestion Debugger - Allows you to check your requests, events and identify counts, and throttled users or devices User Lookup - You can find yourself and review your event stream. Howdy,I have a question about defines events for web and mobile when the event exists on both platforms.  Background:Out company has a mobile and web app. Most of the features we offer exists on both platforms. Right now, web is almost fully instrumented in Amplitude, but mobile is not. I am in the process of identifying the events for mobile and adding them to Amplitude for instrumentation.  Questions:Instead of creating unique events for mobile, I would like to use the same event (when it exists on all platforms). We’ll easily be able to filter using source or platforms. Is this advised? Or do people generally recommend unique events for mobile and web? If I use the same events, but add the mobile SDKs are a source, the events will show as live regardless of whether they were implemented correctly. Any strategies for debugging live events that you add new sources to?Thanks! I appreciate any feedback people have that have gone through similar event implementations. 

Amplitude should log app version automatically as given in the react native documentation. It works logs version correctly in one of my apps. However, in the other app I get a blank against version user property and device type. I am using react native sdk to log events. I have enable debugging but couldn’t find anything relevant with it.  

Hi Team,I need to overwrite new user Id with old one. If i update user id amplitude takes that as new user instead of updating. How to overwrite new id with old id. Regards,Mahima

I’m new to amplitude and exploring it in our free trial.In nearly all other analytics products, I’m able to create custom events based on other events without a code change.  For example, based on a generic pageview event that comes in as part of the Amplitude Browser SDK by default. In this case, we’d want to create a custom event called “Homepage view” based on:Event = pageview where path=/This saves us the need to call the track() api on every page since the pageview event is already being captured.  I do not see how to do this and would be shocked if it’s not possible.  Main reason is we are trying to balance cost of implementation on things such as basic pageview events, with friendly definitions that saves everyone in the organization time to specify the where clauses each time they want to create a report of dive into the homepage (or other pages and have to know what filters to apply).Can someone shed light on this?  Is it true that amplitude cannot do this?

Hi,  I’m using cohorts to identify a specific type of behavior that could indicate fraud. Is there a way to create a user property tag “suspected fraud” or an event automatically for every user who enters a cohort and subsequently to remove the tag if the user exits the cohort ? Best,Anand

Here is a typical scenario that I’m tracking at the moment but can’t find a way to run good analysis:Visitor visits profile page of User A => Event: ‘Profile - View: | eventProps: profileUserId: <id_of_user_a> Visitor signup => Event: ‘User - Create’ Is there a way to connect the event property “profileUserId” with the user created in amplitude (they have the same id) to later know how many signups User A generated? Thank you in advance,

Hi, I am using the User Privacy API to delete some events, according to the documentation setting the ignore_invalid_id to true should ignore invalid user_ids that are sent in the API call. However this does not seems to be the case because if I pass some user_ids which are not in my project I get this error Nothing scheduled due to invalid amplitude/user ids for appIs this expected or am I potentially doing anything wrong? Hello! We have an app for motion animation. We need to understand how long the user is working in one mode or another. We are particularly interested in those functions that are enabled from the start. For example, we have an 'autoposing' mode, and it is enabled from the beginning by default. How could we know how long a person is using it before they switch to another mode? Another example is the Twin machine function. To use it, a person repeatedly presses the forward and backward arrows on the special tracker. How do we keep track of frequency and time of Twin Machine using?Now we have invented an event ‘activity mark’. It is sent every 3 minutes if there has been any activity in the program during that time. We are thinking of attaching "twin machine" (if the twin machine arrow has been used at least once in three minutes), "Autoposing" (auto posing was enabled and the controllers moved at least once) to this event property. But this solution doesn’t seem very elegant and easy...
