I have an event property, “total_time” that tells me the length of a workout in seconds after a workout completed event is sent. An example property value might be “61”, which would mean 61 seconds.  I would like to look at the distribution of these property values, aka a histogram. How many events triggered for property values 0 - 300 (5 mins) … and so on.  BUT, I can’t seem to get an Amplitude chat that works? Any ideas I should try?

We are planning to introduce Amplitude to our app service and have some questions regarding the configuration. We are having trouble with the 'trackingSessionEvents' setting.According to the documentation[link], the 'trackingSessionEvents' property of the configuration object is set to false. However, the default initializer for the configuration object in the SDK has the 'trackingSessionEvents' property set to true.Firstly, we would like to know why there is a discrepancy between the two documents.Secondly, we do not want to set up our own session for our app, but instead apply the default Amplitude session (5 minutes). What value should we set to achieve this?Thank you in advance for your response

Hi, I have not been able to find a similar topic on this forum.My team has a script to send events to our Amplitude project, and we are using Groups. The script is simple and always does Group Identify API call before sending the event (via HTTP V2 API). The name of our group is “license”. We use the Group Identify to set a bunch of license properties, including license_type. For the event in question, the expected value for license_type is pretty much always “evaluation”.However, as you can see in this chart: https://analytics.amplitude.com/appfire/chart/new/gpbprvfthere is a mix. Hi everyone! Im  trying to track users on my website that come from Organic Google Search, those traffic that are not paid ads, just people who find our site searching a word in google. ¿What kind of filters do I have to add in my chart? ¿UTM Source? ¿Referrer Domain? ¿UTM Campaign?

I’m a new Amplitude user and loving it.  However, I think ampli is sending rogue user properties, as there are over 1,000 user properties in my data plan.  I’ve only defined 19 user properties and 12 event properties.  I’d really like to roll this out for some UAT but I know I’ll run over my plan.  How do I get rid of these?  I’m using @amplitude/analytics-browser 1.9.0. 

I added the events in general two days ago, and the existing events are counted well, but the events I added are not counted.When tested on the test server, it was counted well, but when reflected on the production server, it was not counted on the production server i guess the reason is below Existing events have a well-connected data source with sdk, but added events are not connected. It's been more than 48 hours since I added the event, and I was wondering if it was taking a long time or if there was an issueFor reference, we changed from api method to sdk method, and also changed the status of the event "unexpected" to "live".(Web Service Operation)Do you know what to find out and how to deal with this?

Hi,Our scenario is we have crash data logged to crashlytics & event data logged via amplitude.We have a recurring crash effecting a significant % of user-base, but, it happens only when app is backgrounded. We want to quickly understand if the crashes are preventing users from converting, if so severity / priority of the issue is higher.It doesn’t seem common from glancing at documentation to log a crash in amplitude, but it feels like a larger investment of time to create a report in Microsoft BI or other to correlate the two data sources. Does anyone have any advice or experience around this scenario?    

Hello,I’m not sure where to ask this, but there was a recent post on Facebook that said that there was a data entry position available for Amplitude. I replied, was given a text message interview (kinda different way to do an interview) and was sent a “your hired” type letter.The thing is, though, everything seemed a bit strange. I had to go through 3 different people before getting the interview, and the 4th person sent and signed the letter. When Googling all of their names, nothing came up saying they worked for Amplitude. I’m assuming this was some sort of scam, but I just wanted to make sure. So if anyone from Amplitude can please let me know if I should just ignore this job or it’s actually real, I’d appreciate it.Thanks.

On my dashboard I have a “segmentation by ‘order - create’” with a “group by” on “plan”. I get a graph and table like:plan | dateplanA | 45planB | 53… I am trying to retrieve this using the API, but can’t quite figure out how to do it. How do I retrieve the table as on the dashboard? I believe I can create a chart and query the chart, but I want to dynamically select the date range. Thanks.

We are using the free version of Amplitude. In order to determine the popularity of a particular type of content within our app, we want to track the following use-case:User performs Event AAfter performing Event A, user spends at least X minutes consuming that type of content within Y days from the date they performed Event A.My understanding (please correct me if I am mistaken) is that Amplitude doesn’t have an in-built way of calculating how much time users have spent consuming content. So we plan to have a numeric event property named timespent and our app will track how many minutes each user has spent consuming content from each of the different types of content our app offers, and will include the constantly updated value of that property when we report events to Amplitude.However, even after doing this, it’s not clear to me how I can use Amplitude to track the use-case described above. Greetings Amplitude Community,Together with my team, we are currently doing some integration work with amplitude, both on client and server-side. Some events will be tracked from the mobile app (via SDK) and some from our backend system.If the client app calls setOptOut(true) for a user X, does it mean that tracking has been disabled for the user globally? As in… if after opting out in the client side, our backend tries to track an event on behalf of the same user X, would this event be tracked?the SDK documentation states:Users may wish to opt out of tracking entirely, which means Amplitude doesn't track any of their events or browsing history. OptOut provides a way to fulfill a user's requests for privacyBut it is not clear to me whether entirely means also in terms of backend calls (or from another device associated to the same user, say the user has also our app installed on an ios phone)Thanks in advance

Happy to be here!I have a setup where I pull together events from website and events from an application (two separate sources).Everything seems to work, the only thing I’m struggling with is that I don’t know how to merge the website events (by the device_id) retrospectively into a new user_id.Example:A new user signs up and does something in the app → a user_id #1 is created (= new account in the app) and the events from the website (“Try free” click, “Sign-up form”, etc) are attributed to user_id #1 The user logs out and leaves The same user returns in the same browser and creates a new account (goes through p.1 with new credentials) → a user_id #2 with the device_id #1 (same as in p.1)What ends up happening is the website events in p.3 (“Try free” click, “Sign-up form”, etc) are attributed to user_id #1 even after user_id #2 is created.Question: how do I make the website events after the logout merged into the user_id #2 by the device_id #1?I’d appreciate any help!

Hi,Using npm dependencies @amplitude/ampli v1.31.2 and @amplitude/analytics-browser v1.9.1, the generated wrapper does not compile with our current TypeScript version 4.8.4. Documentation mentions a version requirement > 2.1  Also, event names containing single quotes also generate non-compiling code (our event names are written in natural french language). Single quotes seem to be handled properly on property names though. 

I have a product whose target use is N days a week, but I’m not finding a straightforward way to measure Lness. I first tried to solve for this using custom retention brackets, but that wouldn’t give me what I need as they’re tied to specific days (retention on D1-D3, or retention D4-7, etc.).Is there a way to measure Lness on Amplitude?

Does anyone here knows if is possible to clone a Branch for a tracking plan version from one project to another?The easiest example would be: from devs working in Dev environment, where they already created a branch, is it possible that, once we already are happy with the outcome of our changes and have the branch ready in Dev, to “clone” this branch into the Prod environment, to avoid doing all that manual work again? 

Over the last day, I got 55.2k failed events not sent to Intercom due to Destination Throttling, Internal Errors and Invalid Requests. Specifically Throttling and Internal errors nature is not clear to me. What should I do to fix these issues and pass data without such failures?In addition, the user attributes from Amplitude I've selected to send to Intercom don't appear there. The events are recorded fine (with the exception of issues I listed above). What is the reason? Will the attributes get created automatically similar to events, or do I need to manually create the custom attributes I expect to receive on Intercom first?

Hi!We will buy new plan, but now we don’t want to exceed limit and blocked some events.If we unblock them and exceed limit, then when we  buy new plan can we see all events, which was over limit historically?

We're looking at surfacing to the user their time spent in app and noticed Amplitude already by default tracks this, but getting a successful response from the dashboard API (User Activity) has not been fruitful (usage_time is currently returning null from this endpoint even though usage time shows up fine in the dashboard, and it’s unclear why).There might also be a better endpoint for what we want as I'm sure fetching past activity for a user is pretty expensive - we only want the usage_time property for the user. Is there a lighter-weight, non rate-limited endpoint we could use?

(There is no offline status)Then, event is misrepresented on chart by device local time not real time.How can I see chart based real time?

Hello, I’m wondering if there’s any way to use a string sent as an event property in place of the user_id for the event. Use-case:  In the product there are events where a user takes action on another users posts e.g. like, comments, etc. In the ‘like sent’ event for example there is an event property called ‘target_user_id’ which has the user_id of the user receiving the like. I’m wondering if there is a way to use this field in a new event so that the result would measure when a user receives a like (instead of gives a like) and could be used in subsequent engagement and retention analysis. Thank you!

Our stats show a lot of users with many device IDs. Like 20+. And many Merged IDs.How can I figute out based on what they were merged? It feels unnatural and I want to avoid us having an error in our tracking, missleading the numbers.
