Hi there! I’m wondering about a method of Amplitude implementation. I know that it’s possible to implement Amplitude via Google Tag Manager, which would be my preferred option due to the ease of adding any events and using dataLayer, where we already store data for advertising tracking. I started to wonder if there are any downsides to implementing Amplitude through GTM. An additional piece of info is that the web product is written with React or Vue, so it’s basically an SPA. Please let me know if you have considered this scenario and what your conclusions were. I’m mostly wondering about the caveats or downsides of using GTM for Amplitude implementation.

I have a react based front end web app that I am trying to use Amplitude to start doing user tracking. I’m following the tutorials with having the import * as amplitude from '@amplitude/analytics-browser';and then trying to initialize amplitude using the following in my App.tsx file useEffect(() => {amplitude.init(<insert API key here>); // need to put this key in another .env file later}, []); In my package.json my version is “@amplitude/analytics-browser": "^2.9.0" However when looking at my console output I keep getting the error message: POST https://api2.amplitude.com/2/httpapi net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED. Does anyone know why I can’t seem to initialize amplitude?

As of the time of writing, it is 1:40pm UTC. However, my snowflake connections all show that the data is synced as of some time roughly 4 hours ahead of the actual time: The max(created_at) and max(time) in the database are both ~9am UTC. What is happening here?

Hey Amplitude!I have a question related to setting up the tracking for widgets (iFrames) that are part of our Direct Booking Solution. A bit more context: Tour operators can embed our widgets on their websites as iFrames. Some examples are Tiddly Travel ("Book Now" button), The Kili Guides ("Download Itinerary" button), Vacations to Go ("Contact Us" form).At the moment, we are not able to recognize / remember the users who interact with the widgets, as from an iFrame, we cannot place a cookie on the user's browser. Therefore, in Amplitude, every time a user opens another widget, they are counted as a new user. This is inflating our user count and hinders us from answering questions such as: How many users are overall interacting with our widget? How well is our check-out flow converting (-> % users who end up placing a booking)?We started looking into this with our engineering team and are exploring potential solutions. Yesterday 11 june, 2024 around time period of 3:30-4pm CST , for about 20 mins amplitude did not show any data and data was lost for those 20 mins . We are using mobile SDK to send events to amplitude. Can you help us with what happened there?

Hi Experts, We have a few websites for corporate information and apps for web and web/mobile app.e.g. www.abc.com : a corporate website using GTM SDKapp.abc.com : application website using Flutter SDKwe also have native mobile app for iOS and Android by Flutter SDK. It seems GTM SDK from www.abc.com continues to maintain Single Device ID and User ID(after login), however Flutter SDK from app.abc.com web app does inconsistently. app.abc.com has login feature and the application is configured as such there is no session time, hence no matter how long users abandoned and then came back(hours, days and so on), the application session remains, so all of user actions are associated with its user identity. However, Amplitude Flutter SDK does not do in the same way how application session control. From the help doc, default web session is 30 mins.What we are sesing the problem, for exampleAn user logs in and uses the application for a while and leave the application without interaction for 40m

 What is the difference between Segment’s Cloud Mode vs. Device Mode? Within our Segment account, there is a difference type of events Amplitude automatically collects depending on if they are being sent “Cloud only” vs. “Server side only”.    Please note that the Amplitude destination in Segment that supports device-mode has been succeeded by "Amplitude Actions". We strongly recommend using this destination. While device-mode continues to be available, it uses a very old version of the Amplitude Analytics SDK. See this doc for info about switching your destination to Amplitude Action.   

 I need to determine the device_id using cookies, but there are two types available. Could you please advise on which value to use?amp_xxxxx : lowercase ‘amp’  with 6 digits of project API AMP_xxxxxxxxxx : uppercase ‘AMP’ with 10 digits of project APII have read the material from the link, and it states that option 2 is correct, but the screenshot example shows option 1, which is confusing. Additionally, most users who visit our service have cookie option 2, but there are still some who do not. Therefore, I am unsure if using option 2 is the correct choice. Could you please explain the difference between the two cookie options and advise which one would be more appropriate to use?

Hi everyone!Wanted to ask if anyone else is having this issue and how you solved for it. We have SDK cross domain tracking on for now + canonicals in our content. Googlebot has deindexed some of our pages due to the url being appended with the deviceId. To be clear, those pages are deindexed since Google sees them as their own page.Has anyone else experienced this (you can see it in Google Search Console) and what was your solution?Thanks

It looks like the funnel analysis UI was recently changed and now only shows conversion from the first step. It no longer shows conversion from the previous step when you hover over a given step. Does anyone know if there is a way to get back the old functionality??This is a mind-boggling change to me. Such a horrendous reduction in functionality.

Hi all, We have installed Amplitude on our Webflow website example.com via GTM. We have installed Amplitude on our Flutter web-app App.example.com via the Flutter SDK. The get UTM info, our dev team added the UTM tracking option to the Javascript script in the index.html file. They enabled the following options:includeFbclid includeGclid includeReferrer includeUtmWe can verify the UTM $identify event is now being fired. One important reason for us to use Amplitude is the ability to track visitors & users across our website and web-app. Example scenario: a visitor visits Example.com and clicks the button "Start for Free". This brings them to the web-app App.example.com where they create an account and start using our app. At the moment, the website and web-app return very different IDs for the same person on the website vs. web-app.  From documentation & other community posts, I learned that when we pass the device_id when people click from our website example.com to our web app

What is the proper way to track users that navigate from a domain to a sub domain using Flutter web?My company has a Webflow landing page (www.example.com) and a Flutter web application page (app.example.com). We’ve added Amplitude to each of them and can successfully track users on the separate domains. The issue occurs when we send users from the Webflow landing page to our web app. When this happens, a new device ID is generated and it appears as if there are two separate users.I’ve seen this article on setting up cross domain tracking but the language seems specific to “cross domain” tracking. For maybe 5% of our Android app users on an app using the Amplitude Android Kotlin SDK, the events are all coming in batched with incorrect client event times. This has been happening on all versions of the Android SDK for over a year and seems to be getting worse. Now, neither of my test devices will send events in real time. The may or may not get sent a few hours/days later. See screenshots below showing the same (INCORRECT) client event time, as if the SDK doesn’t know what time the events were created and just copies the server upload time as the client event time. Any advice? Just a known Amplitude bug?

I currently have a custom event set up to capture user log in through Auth0 using Amplitude’s HTTP API. When I inspect the event in Users and Sessions I can see that it captured standard user properties like user id, device id, country, ect. I was wondering if it’s possible for me to send any custom data with this event. When defining a custom session, is there an upper limit for how high the timeout can be?Our usecase: our mobile app is used heavily in the background because users are listening to audio, however the Amplitude default background timeout for mobile apps is 5 mins.  Ideally, we’d like to be increasing this to something like 60 mins.

As part of our migration away from Google Analytics to Amplitude as our primary tool for websites/ apps I'm doing some validation of marketing channel/ campaign data from UTM parameters.In our "utm_medium" parameter we have a value of "organic"; this has a value of 6,791 sessions in Amplitude for a particular time period....but over in Google Analytics it's vastly higher at 20,803 for the same time period. I've set saveParamsReferrerOncePerSession to false in our Amplitude tags in GTM, and also left unsetParamsReferrerOnNewSession set to false....this configuration I believe should reflect the Google Analytics default "last non-direct click" attribution, so I'm struggling to understand why Amplitude is reporting so much lower?One thing that did cross my mind is that I don't see utm_medium = organic passed in the URL query string for all clicks from Google organic results for our site. Hello there!I use last Amplitude SDK for Web @amplitude/analytics-browser@2.7.4. After initialization I want to use amplitude.getDeviceId() but it always returns undefined (getUserId(), getSessionId also return undefined).In amplitude personal area I see that device id is set. I am also able to set it manually on initialization setting deviceId parameter but getDeviceId() returns undefined in any case. I cannot understand what I did wrong. Could you help please?

Hi all, I’m looking for some best practice to track screen views. My goal is to create a funnel to understand how many people begin the onboarding on ScreenA and finish it to ScreenE, the drop off rate, and things like this. Should I simply log a “screen_view” event and then add some property like “name → ScreenA”?Would I be able to filter events using that property then? Thank you

Hello,We’d like to pass date-type user properties but curious if we’d be able to properly filter on them in amplitude charts. They’ll be in the format YYYY-MM-DD. 

I’ve tried so hard to find a clear answer to this, but I keep finding paragraphs and paragraphs of “maybe.” If I use a very basic Amplitude setup - just the JavaScript code snippet on a website, tracking user signups, using an ID for users and nothing else, do I need a GDPR cookie banner?We are a US company, with international users.

Hello, I get this error in Xcode when I try to run my project. I added Amplitude Swift as SPM. I’m on MacBook Pro with M3 Pro.  Amplitude is the only package (out of many) that fails. I can only run it successfully with Rosetta. How should I fix this?Thank you!
