Hello,

I've a question regarding how Amplitude calculated the median time to convert metric in a Funnel chart.

If I've two events in a funnel which are supported to be converted within a 30 days timeframe, does the time to convert here considers -

1. Real time taken to complete the funnel irrespective of sessions or website running in the background.

2. Time taken to complete the funnel only when the session is active or website is open in the background.

3. Time taken to complete the funnel only during active session.

4. Something else

Thanks!

The answer is 1, assuming you dont have “Session ID” holding constant. If you do, the answer is 3.

When you have a basic funnel and select ‘time to convert’ - Amplitude is counting the median time for the first, earliest conversion within the time window.

So if your funnel is something like “onboarding” that only happens once, you may not need to count sessions. But if you funnel is measuring “completing a task” or something that a user may do many times per day or month -- then you may want to use session ID to count “in session” conversions!
