I’m beyond excited about the Coffee Chat series! This month, we’re chatting about why a central analytics team is vital to a self-service data culture. Here are some guiding questions: What are the different models that organizations use for digital analytics, and what are the pros and cons of each? Central Analytics teams have a lot to manage, what’s been your experience with ones that support self-service models? Where have you seen this fail? The ideal goal of a central analytics team is to federate insights to the business, how do they get in the trap of “answering all the questions”? Let’s say the customer is just getting started with this idea… where should they start?Which Amplitude feature do you feel best supports the ideal data culture?Team Spaces Notebooks Data Governance (i.e. screenshots of events)Pick one, two, or six questions to answer and post your thoughts in the comments below. Hello, I'm trying to group by a event by the current value of a user property value. It feels like the event is only grouped by the value of this property for the event but not the user property value.I would like the breakdown available in User composition but in Event Segmentation. How can I achieve that ? Thanks, Matthias
I have a “Stacked Bar” Chart which has been filtered for a single merchant. I want to see a summary for the selected date range. The graph and breakdown table do not show a total. It only offers row average, row median, and row change. I can export the data and see a sum of 75, but this is a hassle. Instead, I have been changing the chart type to “Bar” because it supports totals. However, this changes the total to 48. How could the stacked bar have 75 and the bar chart has 48? HERE ARE THE SCREENSHOTS. Thank you
Hello,So far I have only been able to calculate % growth from first date to last date [(V1 - V0)/V0]. Ideally, it would be more helpful to calculate the compound annual/monthly/weekly growth rate (GMGR) so that I can understand overtime growth in a more comprehensive way. Is it possible? Thanks in advance!
Hi,We are using amplitude to truck some events that users of our system take. Now we are introducing “user delete” event by setting a property on the user object. As this is a new property, we already have users in amplitude that are no longer exist in our Database, but the property is not set in amplitude. We need to set correct values for all users in amplitude, thus we need to compare users in our DB and in amplitude. Question: Is there a way to get the whole list of users from the amplitude?
Amplitude seems to be showing an incomplete data set on several of my charts. I discovered this seems to be because the Breakdown table below the chart was set to only show the top 12 items (the chart uses a group by expression). I attempted to select all items but it maxed out at “Breakdown showing top 30” (when there are actually 35 items). The UI doesn’t allow me to select or show the other 5. Is this some kind of Amplitude limitation? I can’t find it documented anywhere. The docs say group by’s are limited to 100 for performance reasons: https://help.amplitude.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031259831But 30 is nowhere near 100. Maybe there’s a bug? Thanks for any help.
Hello, I’ve created a dynamic cohort of users (“active users”) who performed a set of tracking events “set A” in the last 7 days. When I create a new chart to see “active users” who performed a different set of tracking events “set B” over the last 60 days, how does the dynamic cohort behave?Does the dynamic cohort retroactively adjust to determine the set of users 60 days ago that performed the initial “set A” 60 days ago? ...or does the dynamic cohort define the set of “active users” as of today, and just look at that set list of users 60 days ago? Example:Create dynamic cohort is users who performed tracking event A in last 7 days. As of today, I see 3 users with IDs: 345, 346, 347 I create a chart for tracking event B over the last 60-days I apply a filter on users of the dynamic cohort Will the chart only show me those 3 users? Let’s say users 345, 346, 347 only signed up two weeks ago. If I look at the chart, will I see 0 users of dynamic cohort with event b usage 60-days ago or
Hello. I would like to find the unique users that do a specific event from 6PM in my time zone to 6PM in the next day.I would like to know the unique user count that apply for consultation in our business day which is from 6PM to 6PM.Thanks for your help in advance.
Hello everyone,I’ve defined the key events of my application as Amplitude events. Now, I want to know in which sessions, none of the created events have been triggered to inform customer success to look into these. The goal is to have 100% of user session include at least one key event. Is there a way I can display these sessions on Amplitude?
Hi all,I am having an issue during the last two weeks where I experienced that my Time Spent per User and User Sessions went down to zero while the DAU is still showing the users on the platform. Looking at the Session duration configuration I found that no limit (minutes) was set and no related to any starting/ending event.Does anybody know whether it might be related or a hint on what could be going on?Thank you in advance. EDIT: Doing a deeper research, I’ve found that the SessionID is -1 since that. Looks like the session ID is not being set by Amplitude, or does it related to the segment integration?
Hi, I am trying to use Funnel Analysis(https://amplitude.com/api/2/funnels) on Dashboard REST API. According to the API document, it seems that I can set the ‘mode’ parameter where I could select either ‘ordered’ or ‘unordered,’ which seem equivalent to the options ‘this order’ and ‘any order.’ However, I could not find how to choose the ‘exact order’ option on API. Is there any way to implement ‘exact order’ via dashboard rest API?
What’s best practice for finding the fraction of users (who perform event A) that perform an event A (at least) once every day of the week?I have tried a solution to use a Segmentation chart with two segments:Users who performed event A >= 7 times any time in each week Users who performed event A >= 1 time any time in each weekOn the left hand side I chose Any Active Event, using this formula: %: UNIQUES(A1)/UNIQUES(A2),with frequency weekly. My understanding is that this will give me the fraction of event a users that performed event A >= 7 times of the users who have performed event A >= 1 time. However, the “in each” option will include user who performed event A at least X times during each chart interval, which does not met my intended wish to guarantee that each user in segment 1 have performed event A at least once each day, for example a user would also be included if they performed the event 5 times on Monday and 2 times on Saturday...In short, is there a way i
In a segmentation chart with custom date range “Since Dec 7, 2021”, on the right hand side I have set up two segments:1. where “Cohort” = “Cohort Blue”(Cohort Blue is configured as: The users who ..had user property "A" = “Blue”, anytime since Dec 7, 2021)2. where "A" = “Blue”So the only difference is that 1. is a saved cohort with user property “A” = “Blue” in the where clause and 2. have this user property “A” = “Blue” directly in the where clause, why do I get different result when the users should effectively be the same?Let’s say I have chosen “Any Active Event” on the left hand side, then a line chart will most of the time always have a higher count of “Uniques” for the 1. the cohort segment vs 2. the where segment. They do however, tend to converge over time, but the difference is quite large in the beginning. Why don’t they produce the same result?Below is an example graph:1. is the blue line 2. is the green lineGrateful for any help, explanation! Thanks in advance,Nils
Hi there! I've encountered a problem with events that can only be seen in user sessions but not on any kind of graphs. I needed to build a funnel from main_photos_shown to selection_panel_shown, but the drop-off was unusually high. So I went exploring user sessions manually and found out that drop-off contains sessions where the selection_panel_shown event was actually triggered. If I only take the selection_panel_shown event and build a graph with it, there are still those ten sessions without users from the graph above who triggered that event. In other words, I can’t find those users by the event I need even though they triggered it during their session. The same thing happened to the event with a gallery permission request - I can see it in user sessions but it won’t display on graphs at all. It all started after the update 1.1.7. As of now we have no idea what could go wrong with analytics to make those events almost invisible to Amplitude.Would be very grateful for any help!
Hey everyone, We use LogRocket, Pendo, and Amplitude as Product Analytics Tools. All three tools can track number of sessions and visitors on a daily basis. Pendo and LogRocket provide me with a session count almost 7 times higher and a user count around 4 times higher than Amplitude.Every tool defines sessions differently, but do you have any idea where this huge discrepancy could come from? Events are tracked correctly. I appreciate your help. BestNadja
I’m looking to analyze the performance (bounce rate, add to cart rate, conversion rate) of different pages on my site as landing pages and exit pages using the funnel tool. Is there a way to specify that a given event (in this case page view) is the first occurrence of that event in a session? Essentially I want to use the “historical count” feature built into amplitude, but within sessions across all of a user’s sessions. Thanks!
To gain extra insights I want to group event “A” by some specific property of event “B”.So I want to see how many users who are in one of the three groups I have of an eventproperty of event “B” do a certain event property of event “A”. To give a more clear illustration: I want to use the segmentation graph.EventsA: buttonClick where buttonName = xxxgrouped by buttonValue B: event grouped by eventProperties.xxx Is it possible to connect the grouped by I use in event B for event A? So ideally I would like to have the green part (a property of event B) in part A. I thought maybe it is possible to connect those two via the formula, but I have no clue. Anyone any thoughts?
We just bought Amplitude and the Accounts add-on and started sending our first Group events, but I am struggling to visualize these in Amplitude. A simple use case I have is that for all of my customers / accounts, I send a group event per account, that essentially represents the account with group_id = account_id, and then sends account specific properties as Group event properties (or what Segment calls as Traits). I can see these Group events hit Segment and Amplitude, but now when I want to use this data and do something simple like show me all accounts which have sent this event, or for the accounts that have sent this event, show me the value of a specific property. How do I do this? Group events don’t seem to have a name and so when I am in my Event Segmentation Chart, I don’t know how to look up this event!Any guidance is appreciated.. Thanks!
Hi there, I would like to create and save a user segment but it is composed of 670 different users (ie. distinct user_id).Should I enter each of the 670 user_id manually in the interface or is there is a way to do a “bulk import” or create this segment automatically (eg CSV upload) ? Thanks !
In both transaction reports and payment volume reports, most, but not all customers appear in the Breakdown table below the graph until that customer is added to the “where” filter. Here is an example for a customer called Hollywood High Grade which does not appear in the breakdown table below until added to the where filter. This is pretty disconcerting since we rely on Amplitude for many things. Anyone know why this would be?Thank you,Scott
Hey there,Does the slack integrations allows me to be notified when a certain event occurs. What i mean here is the following: Imagine one of the events that I start sending to Amplitude is “New User Created”. I create an analysis chart for it, and that’s all good, but I would actually like to be notified every time this event occurs.Does the slack integration support this functionality (paid or free tear regardless)?Keep up the great work!
Hi! I’m trying to get a list of all chart IDS for a given project, in order to use them with https://developers.amplitude.com/docs/dashboard-rest-api#results-from-an-existing-chart but couldn’t find anything in he public documentation. What’s the most common way to get chart IDs programmatically ? Thanks!
Hello Amplitude community , I have 2 questions regarding a certain analysis .1st QuestionLet’s say that I have two events that are related . Example from my analysis ( start workout and complete workout) and I want to group them by workout name and see from the people who triggered the start workout (the most started ones) , how many finished them . I want to see it 2 bars where one bar represents the started ones and the second , the complete ones in a stacked bar (all bars grouped by workout name) . 2nd questionIs there a way to have produce one chart in which I can see User’s activity over time by 3 different periods .Let’s say first one is monthly activity , second one is weekly activity , third one is daily activity. And see it in a line chart .Would be glad to have some help to resolve these questions and produce charts .Thank you
