Jersey Mike was able to generate a revenue increase through app orders, monthly active app users, and 30-day retention.

Sandwich chain Jersey Mike's was in the process of updating its digital experience when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. To meet the increased demand—Jersey Mike's saw a four-digit increase in mobile orders alone—the company sped up its transformation.

Amplitude was a pivotal addition to its all-new, modern tech stack. It allowed its marketing team to immediately dive into data charts and create customer cohorts in real time without completing complex training.

To help visualize the data, Jersey Mike's uses custom dashboards in Amplitude and Amplitude's correlation and pathfinder features. They also use customized marketing workflows — emails, in-app notifications, SMS text messages — based on Amplitude's dynamic customer cohorts. Jersey Mike's plans to leverage this data to identify baseline metrics and determine growth goals for increasing app retention, order frequency, items per order, and high-margin orders.

The company has already made significant gains thanks to its partnership with Amplitude, enabling it to add delivery options quickly, finetune its pricing model, and create personalized offers for top customers. The progress impacted the bottom line: Jersey Mike's has seen a lift in revenue through app orders, monthly active app users, and 30-day retention.

Try and remember the results:

  • Insight: Utilized predictive cohorts, which helped optimize targeting workflows to generate maximal lift.
  • Action: The Jersey Mike's marketing team designed new features based on the data the team couldn't capture, such as CTA buttons to track impact and improve the overall app UX.
  • Outcome: Over the past year, online ordering more than doubled. And the growth of digital orders has outpaced the growth of in-store orders.
