Data (Beta) - A new home for Amplitude’s data management features

Amplitude’s data management features are going through some exciting changes! We’re consolidating Iteratively’s data planning capabilities with Amplitude event and property management features into one central hub, with a brand new user interface. What does this mean for you? All of the data management that you did in Govern—things like blocking and deleting an event/property, changing the visibility status or activity status for an event/property, or creating custom events—will now be done in the new data management hub Data (Beta.) You’ll also be able to set up a workspace for your project and use the Tracking Plan feature to plan changes to your schema, set taxonomy rules, solicit feedback and reviews from your team. Here, you’ll also be able to view your event metadata and be alerted of schema violations. I am trying to get data over rest api, but i get a 403. how do i obtain an API key to extract data?

I am trying to use the endpoint https://analytics.eu.amplitude.com/api/2/export and am using a curl command like this: curl -k -u $API_Key:$Secret_Key 'https://amplitude.com/api/2/export?start=${STARTTIME}&end={ENDTIME}' >> filename.ziIf I use the API key for my project, the same one that is used to send data from the web app, i get a error 403.How do I obtain the correct API keys to extract data from the api?

Some events not showing on traking plan

Hi, our company recently started using Amplitude for data tracking, and I started by implementing my tracking plan. I imported the plan via csv, but found some typos, and missing events which I added through the Data(beta) platform. My current issue is that some of the events I’m emitting from my application are not being tracked, they do not show up on the plan, not even as invalid events, and if I try to add the even manually I get the error message “Unable to create an event with a name that already exists.” Should I delete the whole tracking plan for now and start over?

When will Data be out of beta?

Hello!We are currently using Data (Beta) using a Trial Enterprise plan. We just wanted to know how close is Amplitude to officially launching Data, and out of Beta? If we decide not to use Data (Beta) - then what are the alternative features/add ons etc that we would use to gain the equivalent set up? For context, we would like surface data sitting in an S3 bucket through to Amplitude.Also, is there a place to submit feedback or any bugs that we encounter?Thank you!All the best,Helen

Taxonomy VS Govern VS Tracking Plan

Data Tab not loading Events

When trying to load https://data.amplitude.com/ to see and manage events coming into Amplityd-- I get an endless spinner and white screen. We’ve hit our event max and I need to clean it up. Otherwise some of our events are blocked from coming in.

Invalid Event Details

We have an event that is working the majority of the time, but there are the occasional “invalid” events coming in as well. Is there any way for us to view the details of these invalid events? I’d like to be able to see what was sent for these specific events so we can troubleshoot the core issue.

Value had invalid type X% of the time

Hello! Why does one Event Property with type “Any” results in such alert, while other Event Properties don’t. If open dropdown, I see that is suggests what type to select to get 100% views. Will fixing this via Data resolve the issue? What will happen if developers update or change properties or events in the app’s code?

Events with Invalid Event Properties from other Events

Hello! I had several Events marked Invalid in Data. If look into them, I see that there’re Invalid Event Properties that are not in tracking plan, but the issue is that these Event Properties don’t relate to the Event.Should I fist click “Add” and then remove such Event Properties from Event to fix it? As for example with “area” Event Property here:

Multiple instances of event properties

Why are there multiple instances of same event property with same data type created?? This is making me confused. Am I missing something?

Best practice for creating event properties

I have multiple events and these events have common properties.E.g. For Login and Logout events I will be having Email as an event property.What is the recommended way to create event property?Create a Email event property and add it to both events form add property button. Create an instance of Email for each event, I have existing events where an add icon present next to each property. If I click on add it creates a new instance of event property. Most of events have email as an event property, so now I have 33 instances of EmailId. Is this best practice or I should have one instance of EmailId and all events having this as an event property.

Use case of development environment.

Amplitude provides two types of environments, Production and Development.Production is the main environment where tracking of event happens. But what is the use case of development environment. In branches, there is no development branch. If I need to make changes then I have to create a new branch under the main branch. How will be the development environment is really used?

Show number of unique devices (based on device id), not unique user

Hi Amplitude community, So we pushed both user_id and device_id on our Amplitude. In Event Segmentation, I know that the current unique users is counted based on user_id (if exist).I wonder is there is a way to show the number unique devices (always based on device_id), instead of unique users in Event Segmentation? Privacy APIs 401 responses

Hi, I’m trying to use the privacy API to delete a user but when I enter the api-key and api-secret (even in the postman collections provided) the api returns a 401. I’ve used the cURL samples and they don’t work either (401) is there a missing step to enable the Privacy API for the project that I’m working on?

Hi, I am testing adding a display name and/or description to an event. I have found this can be done in the Data area, but it’s not showing up elsewhere, for example when I search for events while building a chart or in user lookup areaHere is the event edits I made, about 5 days ago Here you can see it is not showing up elsewhere for that event Is this a bug? User properties but based on device_id not user_id

Hi Amplitude community,I want to push some device-related information on a certain event (i.e., screen_width, app_setting, etc). At this point, I think the sticking behaviour (fired as event_properties on following events) of user_properties handle this use case well enough, but it won’t work well with a user that have multiple device (it will stick on user_id instead of device_id, but CMIIW).Therefore, anyone now the best way to have a “device_properties” instead of “user_properties”? Thanks

The most simple way to now how many time an event was fired

I need to track how many time a certain event has been fired. Is it possible to get the number via Apmplitude API?The only way I came up with is executing https://amplitude.com/api/2/events/listthen searching for the event I am interested in and than getting it "totals" numberIs there a more simple way to accomplish this?

Ampli API key security

Hello 👋🏻 I'm currently testing Ampli as a way to integrate Amplitude into React (TS) App. I’m using Ampli with Amplitude Data feature.Ampli looks very promising compared to default integration with amplitude-js, but I'm concerned about security of API key when ampli files are generated.TL/DR: Ampli on ampli pull is generating index.ts file with Amplitude Key for Production (Api key would be visible on repository). I'm not sure which files I should track with git and security of id's of ampli.json file. Ampli integrationI've integrated Ampli into React (TS) App according to the tutorial. Unfortunately, whenever I'm making an ampli pull, it pulls all new events but it also pulls API key and saves it directly in ampli/index.ts file.I tried recreating repository from Ampli Examples Example, but it stills on ampli pull add API key to ampli/index.ts.I'm concerned about that since I would like to make that repository public in the future. For now I would have to always manually delete api k

Create custom event grayed out because "pending changes", but I've never changed anything

I just opened Amplitude Data for the first time, and the “Create Custom Event” link is grayed out. When I hover over it, the tooltip says “Please publish pending changes before creating a custom event”. But I’ve not made any changes. I’ve never used Amplitude Data before, so I’m not sure how I could have any pending changes.Could this be complaining about pending changes from some other user? If so, how can I figure out which user made those changes so I can hassle them to save their changes?
